@ChinchompaBig@KekW93757223 Your lab was literally playing on the machine. Just because there’s accessible training modes now doesn’t mean the L’s people took in the arcades weren’t their own form of training. People grinded with friends on the home ports and used that as training also.
@ElliotteRodrig2@_saintcola I didn’t start trying at fighting games until SF4AE and I took a ridiculous amount of L’s. You just do that until you start asking the right questions and search for answers. Pre SF4AE I was just playing hyper casually vs my brother and sisters but was the one that did the best.
@SakiKojiro@Kong__47 Something doesn’t work? You try a different option. That example is also a player who’s great at every fighting game they pick up vs someone with no experience. Even in an arcade, you keep losing and you’ll eventually ask the opponent how to avoid situations.
@Majora__Z@NumberOneLoki Winning rounds is something you take into account. Just like going neg but getting kills, sometimes players could lose a whole lot and take pride in taking a round off a player. It’s those small victories that build up and push people to get better. It’s all how you look at it.
@KingGreyVT@RaypEatNanaya Saying you could see your mistakes makes sense when you know what’s going on and it’s something I think FG players overlook. Someone who doesn’t know anything regarding fighting games will not know what’s going on or have any idea what to look out for and that’s what’s hard.
@KingGreyVT@RaypEatNanaya You have to admit that fighting games are hard… barrier to entry is easy, boot up a game with friends and yall will have a great time. Go a little deeper and play with someone who has fundamentals and you’ll get countered easily. It’s at that point whether you continue or not.
@Majinbuuglazer@StimmyBunnyHope@SoloMan1298 You underestimate what people can and can’t learn from the same interaction happening multiple times. We might recognize what we’re doing wrong but a majority of new players won’t and will not try to put 2 and 2 together. I understand that but that filters a lot of people.
@KateMetalBard@SW9RD2FGC It’s easy to be carried in a FPS or take kills instead of getting beat down in a 1v1. It’s not that FPS are just as hard but you’re easily able to pawn lack of skill onto someone or something else outside your own gameplay.
@Ongimboredasf@PowWowCaesar I remember someone asking me “how do I get out of that?” and my response was “you can’t, just don’t put yourself in that situation.”. People want answers to every single interaction when sometimes you just need to play to get the nuance.
@ArlanKels@GhostFrom3S I think the different side of the same coin applies here. Sometimes experienced players try to explain things to newcomers but they take advice as demeaning or belittling them and end up with their ego hurt then leave.
Both experienced and newcomers have their bad sides.
@CelsiusNK@DripGodRagna@Choysauce85 There’s tons of filters in fighting games that people drop off at, not putting 2 and 2 together is definitely one of them.
@Pickleburg3r@PletmanJones Takes a certain person to take all that and actually want to improve. Obviously there’s a lot of people that improve but the drop off is harsh
@Pickleburg3r@PletmanJones Honestly, games could have a great tutorial but will still lose players because you have to practice and put time into getting better if you want to play online. The second someone gets throw looped, takes mix, 100% combo’d, they get discouraged and most give up.
@JohnFrostHowl@I__HATE_SOCCER The genre rewards grinding and it’s something that’s required to be good at any game. People don’t like losing and that’s what ultimately repels people.
@NotMiggyP@acebunnytcg nah dude, that card is going to go crazy in the coming months... Luffy + Dodgers promo? Don card or not I'd say it's going to be very unattainable if you don't know someone that went.
@ethagoat1 It wouldn’t have been an issue for them if they had hopped in sooner… they stay delaying the inevitable by getting the new consoles instead of saving a bit more for a PC
