Wether we like this truth or not, nobody is coming to save us. not the West and not the next election.

I know many has relaxed and their excuse is that colonialism happened. That the missionaries translated the Bible into our language and kept the physics textbook in their's. That the slave trade broke something in us that has not fully healed. That Commerce, Civilisation, Christianity, were deployed as tools of psychological capture in this part of the world.

All of the above mentioned is true, but here is the harder truth, the one we avoid because it is more comfortable to point outward than to look inward.👇🏾

What they did to us in the past is not as dangerous as what we are doing to ourselves right now.

I. We are now praying for what we should be building.
Right now, and our greatest minds are becoming talkers instead of researchers who can bring about change.

II. We are now arguing about tribe and religion while the people looting us unite across both.

III. we are now importing what we have every resource and every intelligence to produce.

IV. we are sending our children to foreign universities to acquire knowledge that we then bring back and apply in ways that serve foreign systems, not our own communities.

V. We are now electing leaders who have already told us, with their bodies, that they do not trust the country they are asking us to trust them to run.

VI. We are now defending the systems that were designed to limit us, and calling that defence culture, calling it faith, calling it tradition.

The coloniser left decades ago and sadly, We are still doing his work for him.

Here is what history actually teaches about national development:👇🏾

Every country that has achieved genuine and sustainable development like Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore, Rwanda, did not develop by becoming more dependent on external systems, they developed by becoming less dependent by deciding, deliberately and collectively, that their development would be rooted in their own cultural realities. Their own knowledge systems. Their own definition of what a good society looks like. Their own assessment of what their people need and what their resources can provide. They did not copy the West at all.

They learned from the West selectively, taking what was useful and integrating it into frameworks that were genuinely their own. They built contact with their own soil.
And from that contact, they grew something that lasted. Because development that is not rooted in a people's own cultural reality cannot be sustained by that people, It remains dependent on the external system that designed it and serve that system's interests.

And the moment that system withdraws its support, the moment the aid stops, the loan conditions change, the foreign government shifts its priorities, and the development collapses, because it was never rooted in us; it was rooted in them.

Before you continue, I want you to know that this post is not primarily about what was done to us, but about what we are doing to ourselves. And that genuine development rooted in African cultural reality, powered by African agency, serving African human flourishing, actually requires reclaiming who we are before anyone arrived to tell us who to be.

We need Education which will make us understand the difference between schooling that produces subjects and thinking that produces builders.

Remember that their game plan is the political class that is securing dynasties while we argue about tribe. the theology of passivity that makes a continent rich in resources to accept poverty as their destiny.
