Narrated Ibn `Abbas (RA): The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "There are two blessings that many people are deceived into losing: health and free time."
(Sahih al-Bukhari 6412, Book 81, Hadith 1)
What I have also learnt is to praise children for doing good generously, some times I give them standing ovation, tell them they are using a 100% of their brain, and be gentle in correcting them.
Tell them what you'll like them to do, do it and show it to them as examples. Try not to coerce them I to not doing what you don't want, speak positive always.
Example, don't say stop playing in the sun, rather isn't it nice to play under the shade? Let them assume taking that initiative and they'll trust your advice.
Be kind to them, don't make them be scared of you because you'll beat them, let them be mindful of how you'll feel when you learn of the misdeed, trust me they won't want to disappoint you.
Communicate with them, and speak to them about the consequences of their actions, show them images, examples of those consequences from the Internet if need be, take them to hospitals to show them how kids that play rough get injuries and get bedridden.
Above all, pray for them, and with them, and let God guide all of you.
Dear Parents,
I want to share one parenting secret with you. The one you won’t find in your regular blogs. And trust me, regardless of your faith, you will find this tip beneficial.
I want to explain why some kids become completely stubborn the more you punish them. I am doing this because I got some messages yesterday from people who have kids in the diaspora and how their kids have become stone-hearted to their parents’ warnings. It is indeed painful.
Remember that I mentioned the monumental book of Imam Al-Ghazali, Ihya’ Ulum al-Din. We have more things to learn from it.
In this book, he talked about a fragile part of a child's mind called the “Veil of Shame.” Note: Every child has this because they are born upon Fitrah (purity of the soul).
When a child does something bad for the first time, they usually try to hide it. They are afraid of being caught because they still value their dignity in your eyes.
The scholars explained that if a parent exposes the child, screams, yells at them, and punishes every mistake, you are tearing down their veil of shame.
Once a child realizes you already see them as a bad person, the humiliation has happened. They stop caring. You have destroyed their internal brakes. When they have no dignity left to protect, they will start doing those bad things openly and boldly.
How do you notice this in your child?
You can tell this is happening in your child when they stop trying to hide their mistakes and start becoming brazen or "strong-headed" when caught. This is a sign that the veil is thinning.
To fix this, you need to use a concept called Taghaful. It translates to intentional ignorance or pretending you did not see a fault.
Our Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us this. He did this with a young companion called Usama bin Zaid. But I see that our parents, due to their high expectations, are often too impatient to look away.
If you catch your child doing a hidden wrong, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is pretend you did not see it. Do not confront them and strip them of their respect.
Instead, bring up the topic later in a general conversation. Tell a story about why that action is destructive, without looking at them or accusing them. Let their own conscience do the punishing. Let them repent and fix it in secret.
A parent who hunts down every small mistake will end up raising a child who has no shame left to lose.
Let me know if you want more of these scholarly parenting tips. I will be willing to share. My DM is full with different issues. I cannot answer everything, but I am sure with these tips, a lot of those issues will be solved by God’s grace.
Thank you for your attention.

I used to think Fajr alone would fix my finances. I prayed. I made duʿā. I stayed consistent.
And yet… rizq still felt tight.
Until I learned what the Prophet ﷺ actually did after Fajr.
Read the signs when the Almighty’s telling you to move on. Don’t put a question mark where He has put a full stop. It’s not in our capacity to fully comprehend all that’s going on. Only He does. Our job is to trust Him. But know that He will heal the pain & mend the broken heart.
@TheoAbuAgada@Rabikeyetunde Wait, do you have interest in the woman too? Abi you’re related to her husband, because I don’t understand your complaint here
I think the fundamental issue is communication. Truthfully, the chase for money and the influence of the mobile phones have removed the zeal for actual connection. This even makes it that we no longer do thorough looking before marriage to know if the person is your match because we feel our phones can keep us company. Last weekend I was lucky to have a date with my wife and we agreed to spend the 5 hours without our phones, we walked from bar to bar. And bro, It ignited a part of me. This is seriously what we need to check. the technology has impacted a lot. My take though.
It’s obviously effident, power outage won’t end anytime soon in this part of the world unlike the developed countries where solar system is installed to lessen the electric bill, it’s becoming our reliant energy source here. Pathetic for the nation but blossoming for We ENGRs.
