I have seen the report alleging harassment and abuse of bottled wine operators by the Ondo State Competition & Consumer Protection Agency. For the record, since I assumed office as Executive Chairman, ODCCPA has not carried out any enforcement operation against bottled wine operators or any other business under my direction. Our activities so far have focused on public education, sensitisation and warnings to businesses dealing in fake, adulterated, expired or substandard products to desist. We have also invited businesses operating in Ondo State to register with the Agency at no cost, so we can properly identify and engage businesses within the state. Anyone harassing, extorting or abusing business owners while claiming to act on behalf of ODCCPA is not acting on my instruction and will not be protected by the Agency. Consumer protection is our collective responsibility. Government, businesses and consumers must work together to keep Ondo State safe, fair and transparent. Our commitment remains clear: protect the consumer, respect legitimate businesses and enforce the law responsibly.
