According to sources in the Syrian Interior Ministry, the ISIS attacker who ambushed U.S. and Syrian Forces today in Palmyra, Central Syria, opening fire on Soldiers and other members of both delegations as they stood outside of their vehicles after exiting the Desert Security Headquarters, was a member of the Syrian Security Force from Aleppo who had recently been placed under investigation and was set to be discharged after it was found he had ties to extremism, including favorable views towards the Islamic State (ISIS). After opening fire, the attacker was quickly killed by Syrian Security Forces.
