Today we welcome Karuniko, an old Hulmeian, back to speak with year 9 about beliefs around suffering in Buddhism. How many people can admit they haven’t hated anyone or been angry at someone in 30 years?
We can’t wait to welcome back Ameera, Dawood, Oscar, Alex, Yusuf and whoever else is joining us for RS A level in September 🥳 All welcome, specialising in Christianity or Islam.
To celebrate #SouthAsianHeritageMonth, Zara and Humaira from the DICE Team created a playlist of the best party tunes from South Asian artists. It was great to see so many come by, even year 10 who would only listen in the corridor! 🎉
Miss Serementa has inspired our little team to all enter the Manchester 10K this weekend. Miss Serementa is raising money for MIND (it’s mental health awareness week), and Mrs Vose is raising money for the North West Air Ambulance service. @OldhamHulme@OHGSGeog
Mrs Vose at the University of Oxford at a religion and worldviews in education conference. A neat opportunity to explore the buildings around the Theology and Religion Department, where Mr Oulton studied his degree. (Don’t tell Mr Gumpert - he graduated at rivals Cambridge)
Wow, our Spring Fair was amazing, and all in aid of @Jolly_Josh1. We can’t wait to announce how much we’ve raised for such a wonderful local charity, who support children with complex needs. @OldhamHulme students blow me away every time, well done year 7.
This morning some year 11 and 12 students join @faithbelieforum in a webinar for International Women’s Day. We will discuss the role and position of women in religion. A great opportunity for @OldhamHulme students to learn beyond the curriculum.
Can you bring people of different religions together in one place of worship? Year 7 have certainly given it their best shot! Well done 7T, these are amazing. @OldhamHulme
7M have produced some fantastic multi faith centres over half term. Today they have written their accompanying essay, explaining all their choices. Well done boys! @OldhamHulme
In celebration of World Hijab Day, the student DICE Team’s “Pop Up Hijab Shop”. Thank you everyone who came along, and well done Humaira (year 7) and the team! @OldhamHulme#DiversityandInclusion
What a busy lunchtime at the Pop Up Hijab Shop! Well done to Humaira (year 7) from the student DICE Team and all her team. More images to come. 🧕🏽 @OldhamHulme#diversityandinclusion
On Wednesday, we will host a 'Pop Up Hijab Shop'. Our headscarf-wearing pupils will be helping anyone who wishes to try out some hijabi styles. Students will be allowed to wear a hijab of any colour/style, to celebrate diversity and culture within our school.
