To me at least, a fan just enjoys the music, maybe even extremely enjoys the music, respects the artist, but at the same time they can admit when something is weak or unappealing. Stans don’t just defend music, they defend the artist at all costs and everything they stand for, even if the criticism is valid, then come the excuses. If you want an example of this, look at most subreddit’s for major rappers and artists. Different opinions are treated like crimes against humanity.
I feel like the Internet has made simply being a fan of an artist seen as insufficient by many, since the loudest, most extreme voices are the ones that often get amplified. That’s why stans treat newcomers to an artist as the enemy, “ you ain’t been here since the start like us? Then you don’t understand the journey! You ain’t welcome here, and don’t you dare question what the fanbase says.”
Jay Z has been awarded $120,000 after winning his paternity case against Rymir Satterhwaite — that was heavily promoted by Nicki Minaj.
Rymir's legal guardian, Dr Lilley Coley has been ordered to pay roughly $119,235.45 in legal fees under California’s anti-SLAPP statute, which is designed to protect defendants from baseless or retaliatory lawsuits.
Quentin Tarantino slams Paul Dano as "the weakest f*cking actor in SAG" and says "There Will Be Blood" could've been the best film of the 21st century “if it didn’t have a big, giant flaw in it… and the flaw is Paul Dano.”
“Obviously, it’s supposed to be a two-hander. But it’s also drastically obvious that it’s not a two-hander. [Dano] is weak sauce, man. He is the weak sister. [Daniel Day-Lewis] is eating him [alive]. Austin Butler would have been wonderful in that role. He’s just such a weak, weak, uninteresting guy. Daniel Day-Lewis shows that he doesn’t need a strong foil. The movie needs it. He doesn’t need anything. It’s supposed to be a two-hander and it’s not! … you put him with the the weakest f*cking actor in SAG? The limpest dick in the world?... I am not saying he is giving a terrible performance, I am saying he’s giving a non-entity performance… I don’t care for him.” (via "The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast")
