I've been thinking about Gen.G so much for the past few weeks and I just have to rant.
1. Poor communication with fans.
2. Has reputation for going radio silent whenever issues arise, whcih brings me back to point #1.
3. The most expensive membership among LCK teams, yet the benefits for members are underwhelming.
Lack of content updates, both on membership and the official YouTube channel.
4. Players are generally not very active on Pop. (Fans know this before subscribing, but just gonna put it on the list)
5. Merch is heavily centered around the mascot rather than the players, which imo, doesn't help with sales.
6. Little to no effort to maintain relationships with former players, especially compared to other orgs. (See: Sm*b with🍊or many players with T-1)
I never expected constant interactions with the players. We support them primarily because of the level of gameplay and performance they represent. I do appreciate player interactions from time to time because they help build a stronger bond between the players and the fans, but that's never been the main reason I support this team.
We don't expect Gen.G to win every tournament because that's simply how sports work. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
The problem is that gameplay has always been the biggest thing Gen.G had going for it. Even when they lose, I'd often be comforted by the thought "At least they tried. They fought well."
On top of that player interactions and fan content have already been fairly limited, so there honestly isn't much else keeping us fans connected during rough periods. When the team's performance starts to decline as well, it feels like we're just holding onto a thread. The lack of communication and content doesn't make it any easier for fans to stay emotionally invested.
Year after year, we've put up with the lack of communication, feeling taken for granted, and what often looks like poor organizational management because we believed in the players. We stayed because of them.
Now we're approaching the third quarter of the season, a point where most teams should be developing stronger synergy with the help of their coaching staff and analysts. But Gen.G's performance has visibly declined. What's even more concerning is that we are the only team that kept the exact same roster from last year. If anything, chemistry should have been one of their biggest strengths.
Fans have been incredibly patient with this organization. Time and time again, we've continued to support the team despite repeated disappointments because we had faith in the players.
But we are only human. Our patience is finite.
If the players aren't performing, and the coaching staff isn't making the necessary adjustments, then don't be surprised if many of your fans choose to walk away by the end of the year.
Blind faith can only carry an org so far.
And you're wrong if you think that fans are here because of your org.
🚨Thierry Henry on Kylian Mbappé.
🗣️ Thierry Henry: “People always talk about Mbappé’s pace and goals, but what makes him truly special is the belief he gives to everyone around him.
“France were 4-0 down, and most teams would have accepted defeat. Then Mbappé stepped up. He scored twice, demanded the ball every chance he got and suddenly the entire team believed they could pull off the impossible.
“When your best player refuses to give up, everyone follows. Dembélé became more dangerous, Barcola found more confidence and France started attacking with purpose. That’s leadership.
“The greatest players don’t just score goals—they change the mentality of their teammates. Mbappé did exactly that. He made England nervous and turned a finished game into a real contest.
“That’s why he’s one of the best players in the world. He doesn’t disappear when his team is losing. He takes responsibility, asks for the ball and carries the fight.
“France may have lost 6-4, but Mbappé reminded everyone why he’s always in the conversation for the biggest individual awards. When the pressure is at its highest, he still finds a way to produce moments that very few footballers can.”
