After a tour of investment sites across the state today, I received, on a courtesy call, a delegation of investors at Government House, Asaba, this evening.
The team comprised the Malaysian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Aiyub Omar; the leader of the Brazilian agribusiness delegation, Roberto Fonseca; and the President of ApexBrasil, Andrew Muller, among other prospective investors and stakeholders. The sites visited included the Kwale Special Economic Zone, Skyward Resource Group, and the Kwale Gas Gathering Hub.
In the course of our conversation, I thanked the visiting prospective investors and stakeholders for choosing Delta State as an investment destination. I also assured the delegation of our commitment to providing an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Foreign investors from Brazil, Malaysia and the United States have expressed strong interest in investing in Delta State following an inspection tour of key investment sites organised as part of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026.
The investors commended the state’s investment-friendly environment and identified opportunities across agriculture, energy and industrial development, with the Brazilian delegation indicating interest in gas-fired power generation and cassava processing, while Malaysian investors explored collaboration in oil palm development.
Leading the tour, Deputy Governor Sir Monday Onyeme said the visits were designed to demonstrate that Delta State is ready for investment, stressing that the Oborevwori administration is committed to creating an enabling environment where businesses can thrive through strategic partnerships, technology transfer and sustainable economic growth.

Speaking at the second day of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026, he highlighted opportunities in agriculture, energy, the blue economy, solid minerals, digital innovation, transport infrastructure, and other key sectors.
He described the summit as a private sector–driven platform connecting investors to bankable opportunities and restated government’s commitment to infrastructure, security, policy consistency, and strategic partnerships.
The Governor also said Delta has secured land for investment, expressing confidence that the summit’s partnerships and commitments will drive industrialisation, create jobs, and strengthen the state’s position as a leading investment destination.
Today, during the Day 2 technical session of the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026, I observed and listened as investors shared their perspectives and blueprints on investment opportunities in agriculture, agribusiness, livestock, the blue economy, transport infrastructure, among other sectors in the state. It was an enlightening experience, watching the experts deepen the discussions as panellists, with many valuable takeaways that we can adopt as a government.
Overall, it was a rewarding experience. My sincere appreciation goes to all the panellists, invited guests, and Deltans. God bless you all.

I heartily congratulate a dynamic and inspirational leader, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, on the occasion of his 68th birthday. On behalf of the government and the good people of Delta State, I wish him God’s continued blessings, good health, long life and many more years of fulfilment. Happy Birthday sir.
Today, it was an absolute pleasure and honour to host the Delta State Economic & Investment Summit, themed “Harnessing Our Strengths, Unlocking Our Potentials,” at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, with the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, serving as the keynote speaker.
This marked the crystallisation of a journey that began in July and August last year with foreign investment missions to Brazil and China. At the Summit, I noted that our goal is to partner with prospective investors, with the overriding objective of building a modern economy that is strongly diversified and adaptable to the physical, social and technological changes of the 21st century.
