Despite significant government investment in infrastructure, we continue to face cost overruns, project delays and poor workmanship.
As Quantity Surveyors, we are trained to ensure cost efficiency, value for money and responsible use of public resources. Yet this expertise remains underutilized in Uganda’s public infrastructure projects.
I will be moving a motion in @Parliament_Ug to strengthen the role of Quantity Surveyors in project planning and execution - helping cut waste, improving accountability and ensuring every shilling delivers more for Ugandans.
There are always many state actors preparing fake tech reports to get things signed off by the President. @mkainerugaba@KagutaMuseveni need to establish “a war room” for each government project, from approving bidding firms to overseeing the contract and project implementation.
Permanent Secretary, Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, has been asked to make a police statement (arrested?) following his appearance before Parliament’s committee on Physical Infrastructure over the Digital Number Plates saga.
It remains to be seen whether Mr Mwine Mpaka Rwamirama will summon Hajji Kakande’s boss next; considering this project was from a directive of @KagutaMuseveni as a security intervention.
Are we about to see the Real Musuga before @Parliament_Ug or are MPs and the media gonna concentrate on the theater of number plates (mere metal plates) and act oblivious as to the architecture of the whole project and how it came to be?
This is what’s frustrating about Uganda. The theater and lack of depth in analysis of national issues.
@AinamaniPaul@BuniChristopher This might just be overstating things. A country that has literary failed to build roads with all that wealth. So many poor people.
Congo is like 10 Ugandas. Over 90% of people in Eastern Congo don't even know what is going on in, say, Kinshasa or Lubumbashi. Nairobi to Goma is 885km, and Goma to Kinshasa is 2,623 km.
How Kinshasa is able to do all these things amidst "war" while Kampala is issuing promising statements amidst "peace" is something we need to ponder over.

@KakwenzaRukira I know the house you are talking about but it's not accurate information. Your locator is also not accurate. You will end up in the wrong house.
