How we have lost sight about worsening inequality in our country. Those of us with social & economic privilege are not even close to understanding how devastating the loss of the child tax credit & other aspects of #BuildBackBetter is to so many Americans.
So I think I understand internal medicine. You have to figure out how much fluid is in the body, then you argue with people from different specialties about how much fluid is in the body, then you do an echo, then you add or remove fluid, sometimes both, then discharge.
10 years from now, all major medicine, surgery, & anesthesia departments in US will be chaired by a current junior faculty member who has this interview:

Just listening to all the stats Beutner is ticking off w/ regard to how vulnerable LAUSD students & families are as part of this #COVID19 update - the high % that live in poverty, that don't have internet access, that rely on school feeding programs...How are we not more ashamed.
