Man, good luck to the kid and his recovery. But this ain't it. You can't normalize betting on your own sport and your own team. It would absolutely ruin college sports.
@ScottOmer13 Happiness / having a good partner no longer have anything to do with it. In this age, it's all about chasing that dollar. If another company is willing to pay more, that's all the excuse any AD needs. Wish it wasn't that way, and maybe there are still some outliers...
@Grilling_Pete They just spent their sophomore and junior years of high school, when they start thinking about where they want to go... watching us be the worst team in the Big 12. They don't care about the last 20 years.
@Grilling_Pete Everyone needs to keep in mind, that as far as recruits are concerned, we're a pure ass football team until proven otherwise. We'll be portal heavy again this year and with recruiting picking up next year if we can win 7+ again.
@BarefootElleck You know someone gives everyone the same experience when I know exactly who you're talking about in this space without even seeing any previous conversation.
@JakeWayneSports AFAIK there are no divisions either inside athletics or with the administration. There are some niche fan groups that are trying to make this a thing for various reasons. Not sure how Bill got roped into it.
@WillyFoosball No. 4 the class this year, we're leading for 2 more top 60 guys next year. I'm personally willing to give him at least 2 years to field a team that isn't all transfers and freshmen. If everyone transfers out again next summer, then I'm willing to give it a thought.
@McclainBaxley It's fair. As of right now, we're 100% dependent on some combination true freshmen to have a good first year. Our floor is as low as our ceiling is high. We'll just have to wait and see if everyone is as advertised.
@WastedOptimism Aye. It's no different than O'Brate giving millions to baseball... or the Greenwoods millions to Tennis, we're just in the realm of NIL rather than facilities. Sometimes if you want someones money, they get to tell you where it goes. Even if it would be more useful elsewhere.
Liked what I saw in the spring game today. What I wanted to work, worked, and what didn't... we got a good look at and there's plenty of time to work on it. Clearly a better team than what we fielded last year.
