Five days into my next undercover investigation, set to be released by @fijnigeria later this week, I sent the picture in Frame 1 to my three-man backroom team. They all laughed at me, one of them remarking I looked “like a fisherman”.

The pictures in frames 2 and 3 are from my 44th day on the field. Nobody was in ebullient mood this time. They all screamed instead. None of them could say it, but I knew I could pass for a mad man on the streets.

Meanwhile, Frame 4 is who I was before I embarked on the project.

It is the first time ever that I’ve given the public a glimpse into the making of an undercover investigation. I do it this time to contextualise public understanding of the physical, material and mental cost of investigative reporting. Behind every daring work of investigation you have read is several weeks, sometimes months, of self-sacrifice by the journalist.

Of higher importance, I do it to remind younger journalists that investigative journalism isn’t the white-collar stardom propeller many seem to think it is; more often than not, it is about getting your hands dirty while still believing this is hands down the best job in the world!

It feels good to be fully back on social media after nearly five months out…

If you love to travel and you don’t want to spend your money.
1.) Work hard and hone your niche. Become so good at it that you are being sought after.
2.) Share your progress/milestones publicly.
3.) Anytime you get the opportunity to be on stage, ensure you are unforgettable. Be prepared and back it with data.
4.) Get snippets and distribute it
5.) If nobody calls you, go to them.
6.) Make sure your work doesn’t suffer because of this. So balance is key. If you don’t have something to show, you wouldn’t be invited anyways. Protect the actual work and ensure it grows.

Once you’ve hacked this, you will be the one rejecting invites.

The EU has banned TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide) - an ingredient found in gel manicures.

This ingredient is a "photoinitiator", which allows gel polish to cure under ultraviolet (UV) light to make the varnish more durable and hold its colour for longer. 

Several animal studies have linked the chemical TPO to long-term fertility damage and reproductive issues.

It has just been reclassified as a Category 1B CMR (Carcinogenic, Mutagenic, or Reprotoxic) substance with reproductive implications.

In the truest sense of it, money is not the end in itself. It is a means to an end, a defence mechanism, and a system that gives you options if you ever need them.

Marriage is beautiful, but within it, you will experience storms that can unearth and expose behaviours in you and your partner that will leave you both in awe.

At the point when you are getting married, all you know is the person in front of you right there, not necessarily who they will become under the deep, deep pressures of life, like job loss, delays with having kids if you both want them, loss of loved ones, etc.

So, to the best of your ability, everyone in the union must think daily about what they must do to make themselves and their partners comfortable and make life easier.

I also genuinely believe in the phrase: ‘Anyone who feeds you can starve you’. So, it is highly recommended that both parties, especially in these tough economic realities, have something that brings them money.

And for ladies, money gives you some peace of mind; it also gives you a say in important decisions, like the schools your kids will attend and the kind of house you want to live in, etc.

So, I recommend financial safety for women before getting married.
