@Ninjasurprise_ in all seriousness, Nintendo used to set clear examples with early leaks of this magnitude, lawsuits etc. that genuine fear curbed leak culture. it's much harder to keep leaks under wraps these days, but when people are openly profiting from it and no clear action is taken...

We tolerate entire industries taking a cut from hunger, illness, shelter, heat, and even death. But someone makes $40 on a collectible you can simply walk away from, and suddenly everyone discovers class consciousness.

Grocery stores profit because you have to eat. Landlords profit because you need shelter. Utilities profit because you need heat and water. Pharmaceutical companies profit because patients cannot simply choose not to need medicine. A reseller profits because you really wanted shiny cardboard.

Your electric company can shut off your power. Your landlord can remove the roof over your head. A reseller can only deny you a toy. Guess which one inspires the internet meltdown?

People defend rent increases as “market rates,” hospital bills as “the cost of care,” and grocery markups as “the cost of doing business.” But check one eBay comp and suddenly market value is immoral.

Apparently capitalism is perfectly acceptable until it touches your hobby. Everyone becomes a socialist the moment they miss a retail drop.

You can refuse to buy a collectible. You cannot refuse to need food, shelter, medicine, water, or electricity. Yet somehow the optional purchase produces the bigger tantrum.

You are not being exploited because somebody else bought the toy first. You are experiencing the unfamiliar sensation of being told “no.”
