Governor Adeleke Says Osun to Key into $7.7 Trillion Halal Economic Strategy, Speaks at NEC Meeting in Abuja

Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed the desire of the Osun state government to key into the National Halal Economic Strategy of the Federal Government by creating a state's policy and implementation plan within the federal strategy.

Speaking at the National Economic Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday, the governor commended the federal initiative on Halal economy, calling it “a timely step to tap into the multi trillion dollar Halal economy that is already integrated into western and global economy”.

The governor who called for a subnational template for halal implementation assures that his administration will set up an halal economy committee to adapt the federal template and create a state programme for implementation.

He said the Halal economy has the potential to expand and deepen the Osun economy as its applications cuts across all economic sectors and is also open to multi-faith beneficiaries.

“I commend President Bola Tinubu for this initiative. Osun will work on an implementation plan to benefit all residents and indigenes. Halal economy covers financing, dietary requirements, infrastructure and ethical conduct in business relations”, the governor noted.

It would be recalled that Vice President, Kashim Shetimma had unveiled the national halal economic strategy, informing that the Strategy is “the result of careful study and sober reflection inspired by the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu “to diversify exports, attract foreign direct investment, and create sustainable jobs across the federation.

“It is also the product of deliberate partnership, developed with the Halal Products Development Company, a subsidiary of the Saudi Public Investment Fund, alongside Dar Al Halal Group Nigeria, with technical backing from institutions such as the Islamic Development Bank and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa,” he added.

Billboard Destruction: Osun Security Council Adopts Stringent Measures

Osun Security Council has adopted several strategies to nip in the bud recent upsurge of political violence.

These strategies were adopted at the marathon meeting of the council held yesterday under the chairmanship of Governor Ademola Adeleke represented by his deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi.

As political brigandage and vandalism continue to take centre stage in Osogbo and other parts of Osun State in recent times, particularly in the early hours of Monday, the 11th day of May, by hoodlums alleged to be sponsored by Osun State chapter of APC, Governor Ademola Adeleke today presided over a high powered Emergency State Security Council meeting at the Governor’s Office, State Secretariat.

The meeting brought together top security commanders from the Army, Air Force, Police, DSS, Immigration, NDLEA, among others to underscore the urgency of the situation.

Members of the State Executive Council were also at the hurriedly convened emergency security meeting which lasted several hours on the way forward, especially as political activities gather momentum for the 15th of August, 2026 Governorship election.

Addressing the security echelons, Governor Ademola Adeleke, condemned the general state of lawlessness and brigandage by the alleged thugs of APC who, with an unrestrained glee, carried out defacement and destruction of his billboards as well as that of his political party, ACCORD, during the coordinated attacks allegedly led by one Asiri Eniba and his cohorts in the early hours of Monday.

Governor Adeleke at the meeting, however, called for calm, support and cooperation of all security chiefs and other stakeholders in the state.

Apparently expressing his dismay, Governor Adeleke berated the Osun State Commissioner of Police over the unbridled brigandage which he said could have been instantly curtailed by the police, if as the C.P, he had acted promptly to checkmate the political charlatans from having a free for all of their acts of lawlessness.

A statement by the Commissioner of Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi quoted Governor Adeleke as condemning the braggadocios of the alleged APC thugs who were reported to be fully armed and shooting sporadically especially at the State Secretariat entrance gate for several hours before leaving the scene.

The police, however, at the meeting defended itself over the unfortunate commando like operation by the alleged APC hoodlums. As one of the ways out, the police promised to have a roundtable discussion with the Chairmen of all political parties very soon in the state.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Barr. Samuel Ojo while briefing the top security echelons gave brief details of how some hoodlums alleged to be apologists of the opposition APC in the state had unleashed unprovoked attacks on people in addition to defacing and destroying posters and billboards of the ruling party.

Barr. Ojo also appreciated the support and cooperation of the security agencies but called for more stringent professional security actions to allay the brazen state of lawlessness being daily alleged to be masterminded by one Asiri Eniba and his gang of hoodlums taking laws into their hands.

Governor Ademola Adeleke has opened up on how his government revived Osun economy from 2022 to date, affirming that infrastructure investment has rapidly grow business and expand various sectors of the economy.

Addressing a delegation of the Association of Real Estate Managers and Consultants at the Government House today, the governor said the state has committed several billions of naira to the rehabilitation of roads, schools, health centres and state utilities with a target of deepening state economy and improving her Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The governor further addresses the association members: “Our infrastructure growth agenda is driving substantial changes in the local economy and real estate sector. Our integrated, multi-sector plan focused on road networks, urban renewal, and local content policy. This is boosting Osun economic development.

“From 2023 to date, we have committed several billions of naira to infrastructure upgrade of our dear state. Our infrastructure driven economic growth creates new economic corridors and urban renewal, reducing traffic congestion in major cities.

“Our projects prioritize local contractors, engineers, artisans, and construction materials to ensure that funds circulate within the state. I am happy to announce that our administration put an end to capital flight in Osun governance. Our policies successfully reduced Osun infrastructure deficit by over 50 percent from 2022 to date.

“Our spending on infrastructure has increased property values and improved connectivity through graded and paved roads. This is elevating the real estate sector and enhancing accessibility for residents and businesses.

“We have scored a major first in urban expansion and planning. Widening of road networks in cities like Osogbo, Ede, Iwo, Ilesa and Ile-Ife is pushing development into new areas. This increases opportunities for residential and commercial real estate development.

“Our success in accelerated land administration is boosting local investment and the construction industry. Our implementation of the 45-day window for processing Certificates of Occupancy speeds up land transactions and secure investment.

“The state government is actively creating an environment to attract global capital and real estate developers. We are creating localized demand for both residential and commercial properties.

“Our One-Stop Investment Shop has simplified the "ease of doing business" to protect and encourage property investors. Our improved Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) provides the state with greater financial capacity to sustain these long-term infrastructure commitments

“For us in Osun, we are also focussed on reducing the challenges of rapid urban pressure and growth facing the capital, Osogbo. The growth rate is presently put at 3.15%. Hence, we expand connectivity and development to adjacent cities and towns.

“This administration's focus on infrastructure is expected to position Osun as a tourism and economic hub in the South West. The infrastructure focus has also jump-started our agro-industrialisation plan. At the same time, our investment spread to education and health facilities to support the population”, the governor stated.

Speaking earlier, the President of Association of Real Estate Managers and Consultants (AREMAC), Mr Abiodun Olowoporoku commended the governor for his committment to growth of the real sector of the state economy.

He particularly appreciated the signing into law of the real estate regulatory bill, describing it as a major landmark in the real estate sector of the state.

The ongoing media parley by the Osun APC has only confirmed what the people of Osun State already know, the party is deeply frustrated, politically disoriented, and desperately struggling to recover from growing public rejection and ridicule across the state.

After months of propaganda, blackmail, intimidation narratives, recycled talking points, and failed political strategies, the APC has now resorted to emergency media appearances in a last-minute attempt to rescue a collapsing public image.

Unfortunately for them, Osun people are politically conscious and cannot be deceived by media theatrics.

The people already rejected the recycling of Oyetola’s failed manifesto.

They rejected the desperate attempt to dissociate themselves from Oyetola’s administration after realizing the name had become a political liability.

They ignored the false propaganda that Governor Ademola Adeleke has not performed because visible infrastructure projects, workers’ welfare, educational reforms, healthcare interventions, and fiscal discipline across Osun State have already exposed those lies.

They also ignored the shameful EFCC blackmail campaign because Osun people understand clearly that elections are won through performance, credibility, and public acceptance, not through intimidation and sponsored rumours.

Every attempt by the Osun APC to repair, rebrand, and resuscitate its damaged image before the people has failed woefully because the people already know the difference between governance and propaganda.

The truth is simple. The Osun APC has completely lost political direction and public confidence. What is happening today is not media engagement. It is political damage control by a party overwhelmed by rejection, internal crisis, and fear of electoral defeat.

No amount of media packaging can hide the reality before the people of Osun State.

Governor Ademola Adeleke continues to enjoy massive acceptance because the people can clearly see the difference between purposeful governance and recycled failure.
