Private citizens stepped up & used a ladder to go around & remove the covers to restore traffic flow.
The contractor will suffer no consequences. The City didn’t bother to ensure the detour was properly removed.
Citizens want a #citythatworks
Why can’t @MTL_Ville clean off this vandalism at one of the busiest intersections in Old Montreal? Shameful defacing of a heritage building should be addressed quickly.
Numerous reports that there is no parking enforcement by @agencemobi_mtl today in Old Montreal. An agent was seen ignoring numerous infractions near Place d’Armes. 🚨
On this busy weekend it appears there is minimal parking enforcement by @agencemobi_mtl in Old Montreal. Getting reports of agents driving and walking past infractions. 🤷🏻♂️
@MTL_Ville
Good to see 2 @spvm officers enforce on Place d’Armes .
On Saturday, several @SPVM officers watched car after car after car drive past two ⛔️ signs in Place d’Armes… and did absolutely nothing.
Why does @MTL_Ville post signs that drivers ignore and police don’t enforce? 🤷🏻♂️
Shameful and disrespectful. @Nestle placed advertising all over Old Montreal sidewalks and public spaces today (which is illegal). Kudos to residents and business owners who removed them. @MTL_Ville needs to fine the company responsible.
If you are concerned about inaction by @SPVM in Old Montreal and its refusal to enforce traffic regulations around Place d’Armes, share your thoughts at a public meeting on Monday at 6pm at 173 Place d’Youville. 🚔
Truly disgraceful to see the @SPVM lie to the media about someone who has helped its officers for five years. The loss of the PCVM/OMCP will be felt this summer. Shame on the police.

On April 2, Sgt. L’Ecuyer wrote: “Please be assured that we are already very aware of the various issues you raise in the sector, whether it concerns coexistence, problematic behavior, or road safety. These issues are known and being monitored by the relevant authorities.”
Update: The OMCP ceased operations on Friday, citing troubling comments by senior @SPVM officers and a lack of action by @MTL_Ville@pinardvelo@SorayaMartinezF
This will have a tangible impact on the area around Place d’Armes this summer.
Disappointed to learn that the Old Montreal Community Patrol may be ceasing operations on May 1st over inaction by @MTL_Ville and @SPVM
Old Montreal is in decline and this will only make things worse.
Has Montreal’s health inspector paid a visit to the @McDonaldsCanada at 1 Notre Dame W recently? 🤔 The manager (who might be unstable) doesn’t seem to care (when he’s not standing outside smoking). 🍟
This driver ignored a “buses prohibited” sign at Saint Laurent and Saint Jacques to access Place d’Armes. @MTL_Ville needs to demand better vigilance by @SPVM as the busy tourist season ramps up. 🚨
Getting multiple reports that there is very limited @agencemobi_mtl parking enforcement in Old Montreal this afternoon. At approx. 2pm, an agent was seen driving past three infractions at Saint Sulpice and Notre Dame W.
