Built in 1821 on a hillside overlooking Robin Hood's Bay, Old St. Stephen's is a redundant church maintained by @thecct. Tweets by Friends of Old St. Stephen's
Big thanks to everyone who came to the Carol singing - who gave their time, helped organise, had a good sing. It was a lovely afternoon, & now I know we can get carols on mobile phones! 🎄🎶😁
Happy Christmas everyone!
Don’t forget to join us for our St Stephen’s Day carol singing tomorrow (26th) at 2pm
Mince pies and mulled wine to follow (feel free to bring along any spare bottles you might have to join to ours).
What a lovely afternoon singing and playing carols!
Thanks in particular to Gillian (organ) and musicians, Reverend Waters for his address about St Stephen and Peter for reading.
Deb served up some delicious mulled wine and mince pies to warm us all up afterwards.
This Sunday, 1pm onwards, anyone who'd like to help deck the church with boughs of holly & the like is invited to turn up with any greenery etc - & string! 👍🥶🍃🎄
It was great to see so many donations to the Foodbank4Whitby from the village and the families at @Fyling_Hall School. The amazing wheat sheaf loaf pictured was made by John McQue!
A lovely morning today at the Churches Together Harvest Festival. The service was led by Rev. Foster with a musical accompaniment from the gallery provided by the Hawsker Village Band.
Many thanks to the intrepid & generous handful of folk who turned up to this afternoon's concert despite the rain & gave of their time, money & creative skills. It was a nice little gathering that might generate further interest & we raised £55 for the One Small Bell project.
Fun last week when an engineer needed some shots of the cupola & I realised drone footage might be easier than scaffolding-thanks to Delta Charlie Drones. The bell is in a queue at Taylor Bells Foundry. It was a nice day so here are some photos from hitherto unfamiliar angles.
St Ninian's is a fascinating Georgian church in Baxtergate, one of the main streets of Medieval Whitby. Please consider supporting this fundraiser.

Bluebells! The saga of One Small Bell is progressing very slowly but after a successful engineer's inspection last Tuesday we live in hope that things might get moving. In the meantime, enjoy the flowers.
Nice damp afternoon last Tuesday. Lovely to see the Shetlands grazing amongst the stones - & please tell me I'm not the only one who can see a dog in that lichen . 🤔🐶
