Established in 2004, Ithumba is one of our most successful Reintegration Units, where dozens of orphaned elephants have reclaimed their place in the wild. Located in the vast, untouched northern sector of Tsavo East, it has become a hub for wild elephants, with herds visiting daily. It's got a great pool too!

It all began with our Orphans' Project, and today - thanks to our dedicated team and supporters - we celebrate: 320 orphaned elephants rescued & raised! 19 endangered black rhinos hand-reared! 67 elephants born to orphans rescued, raised, & rewilded - not forgetting two wild-born black rhinos!

Since September, our ex-orphans have given us incredible news: five new wild-born calves have joined the family! Chapa, Sid, Miale, Mwangaza, and Moe are reminders of what’s possible when we rescue, raise, and rewild orphans. These little ones are symbols of resilience and hope for Kenya’s wildlife.

We’re getting all sentimental this Sunday remembering this magical moment from 2017:
Head Keeper Benjamin catching up with orphaned elephant Sunyei, an orphan he helped raise, who was successfully reintroduced back to the wild but came back to introduce her newborn baby Siku.
#Earthday with the orphans. At Kaluku, the orphans celebrate ‘earth’ in very literal sense with a dust bath! Thank you to everyone who supports our mission to safeguard all creatures of the wild, especially these young orphans, & preserve the habitats they call home.
We have just ONE planet Earth.
Every choice makes a difference.
What action will you take for #EarthDay to make a positive impact on the 🌍?

And so it begins once again. The Barn Owl nesting season is now well underway and we have just spotted the first egg at @theRiverField nest box!

Tomorrow, on the 23rd of March at 8:30 pm local time, we have the chance to create a moment the world can’t miss.
Switch off and spend 60 minutes doing something - anything - positive for our one shared home.
Together, let’s create the #BiggestHourForEarth@WWF
Did St Patrick replace the worship of an earlier trinity with the shamrock, did he drive out the worship of the serpentine/snake form? Today we celebrate symbols of Ireland across the globe, the most ancient of all symbols we celebrate everyday at #brunaboinne#jewelsofhistory

What better way to start your day than with kisses from Twiggy? This was filmed in 2022 - she is now towering over the Keepers & the orphaned antelope that also call our Kaluku Field HQ home. As an infant her story could have ended before it barely began: https://t.co/I7bMjmjRAH
