@StoriesOfSmoke … but also don’t expect to reduce before then because as we all know, Velocity/ALK have no money of their own. The far more pressing concern is reducing/servicing our £140m (!) external debt. Maybe some of the rumoured net £80m and proceeds from Everton will pay it down.
@StoriesOfSmoke It will sit there until Burnley FC Holdings is sold (hopefully ASAP). At least in a sale of the club the £81m balance would be netted off and likely wipe out any equity return to ALK. The £81m isn’t impacting cash or our PSR in the meantime …
#TOTCRY – 29’ VAR OVERTURN
VAR checked the referee’s call of goal – and established that Sarr was in an offside position and recommended that the goal was disallowed.
What a waste of everybody’s time. Another passive, feeble, nothing performance. It’s by design how we start these games and it’s totally bewildering. And he talks supporter togetherness again post-match.
Just sack him. Any caretaker you like until May.

@jonathan_church@IdleandWild At the very least go off the bloody feet which are half a yard onside. Penalised for leaning forwards like attackers sometimes do, and the defender 40 yards away perhaps not having a very big arse. Also is that definitely the precise moment the ball left his foot? Nonsense.
The biggest time-wasters in football now are not the players but some of the officials implementing VAR. Turf Moor confirmed that. Almost three minutes to decide that Anthony was offside. Right decision but a nonsense it took so long to establish. Sort out semi-automated. Almost five minutes to decide that Barnes had handled. Not even sure it was the right decision anyway.
The unacceptable, unconscionable amount of time taken damages the game and alienates the fans, without whom there is no game. PGMO has to improve. It claims it is speeding up decision-making and then delivers this desecration of a great football game between Burnley and Brentford with delays.
PGMO use of the technology has to be better. And quicker. VAR is here to stay - IFAB underlined that in Cardiff on Saturday - so let’s make it work for the game of football not against. Improve standard of officiating - on-field and at Stockley Park. Invest even more in developing good officials. Speed up the process - and if that means a time limit on decisions then do it.
Don’t chase perfection; just prevent injustice. PGMO has forgotten Clear and Obvious only. PGMO has forgotten the game is about passionate match-goers not pedantic, slow-moving law-enforcers. #BURBRE
If they’re going to bat like that all series they’d have been better off staying at home like the useless TNT cycling commentator. Cummins and Hazlewood not even playing. Enjoy your golf tomorrow lads.
@Russdball As “Director of Fan Experience” what do you think of these fans’ experience 15 mins after FT today. I’ve been to every other Prem ground & it’s never been an issue mixing with opposition fans on the way out at those places @BurnleyFCISA@BurnleyFCPolice#twitterclarets
@LiverpoolR8120@JacobHorsfall_ If you buy a McLaren and I’ve a Ford I’ll crash into you rather than taking you on in a race. The last thing I want as a Burnley fan after a PL loss is any credit for ‘playing the right way’. I want to see our teams making it horrible for them. Congrats on the late penalty win.
The frustrating and offensive thing about the "equity" in cricket report is most people in cricket, like most in the country, are kind and welcoming. We can have a conversation about inclusivity that isn’t inflammatory and accusatory. The report fails for that reason (1/n).
