Alan shearer is one pathetic, gammon bastard. Paraguay keeper gets fouled and gets straight back up and he calls him pathetic, Harry Kane blatantly dives on the ground and he’s just “making the most of it”. I need Congo to win this in the worst way.
Would absolutely love for the DRC to win this game I cannot lie. Not a nationalist bone in my body so don’t give a fuck about England. Be a class story.
The stoppage was completely justified based on fighter safety. Heavy KD + trapped in the corner against a barrage of shots. Fairly standard procedure. The timing of it meant the ref blew the optics though. Complete lack of situational awareness regarding the clock. Happens.
A sluggish performance against a clunky ass kick-boxer in a weird crossover fight says much less about how Usyk would deal with Itauma than all his previous fights do. Just not a comparable style clash in the slightest.
@Short_stories_I @CombatCr I’m not convinced it was age as much as just looking heavy, uninspired, and content to coast. Almost too composed tbh. Also Rico made it an ugly style clash. Optics weren’t good.
@RobTebbutt I thought 6-4 was probably about right. I wasn’t scoring all that closely, but there were a few rounds I thought Usyk might’ve nicked only for the broadcast to be like “nah mate another round in a sea of rounds of Rico who is going to shock the world!”
lol was obviously gonna be closer on the official cards than the shambolic broadcast was making out. Grisham flapping about like Usyk was hurt whenever Rico clinched, Usyk’s clean punches getting completely ignored unless they hurt Rico. “Early stoppage” didn’t matter at all.
I genuinely don’t think Usyk thought he was down or needed a finish. He was just boxing, picking his shots here and there, not really affected by Rico’s roughhousing, and not listening to the DAZN team and getting swept up in the narrative they were running.
@Dylan84251@TomGree8623068 He did win? Left it late but found his moment. Even if the ref had let Rico continue for the final round, the 10-8 in the 11th meant Usyk would’ve been up on the cards going into it.

You'd think an elite fighter has never fought down to the level of their opponent before, or has never lost some motivation to be their best self after accomplishing everything in the sport that they set out to.
People are just fickle and short-sighted.
