Inbreeding is mating of closely related individuals. It is genetically not advisable as even many animals run away from it. A male lion will move out of its pride once it's sexually mature. Same goes for hyena, chimpanzees, baboon and many other animals. Why is it frowned upon in genetics.

1. Remember what we did in SS3 biology about dominant and recessive genes, a lot of health problems have recessive genes too. Examples include health problems like phenylketonuria and cystic fibrosis. If one of the parents carry this gene and another they marry someone else that does not have the gene, it won't manifest in their children. They will still carry the gene of course. But when closely related people get married, they may both donate these recessive genes. Two copies of the same genes will always be expressed, whether recessive or dominant.

For a 5 year old, this means, marrying a close relative can preexpose the children to certain health challenges.

2. Reduced genetic diversity. Two people marrying come from two different lineages who have been exposed to different environmental factors and they have built immunity against it from generation to generation. These two people coming together will be added advantage. It's like Dangote pikin marrying Otedola pikin. You know that's double money in the family of the children. But if it's Otedola's family marrying Otedola's family, that's just single money. So in order to get more "genetic money", it's better to marry someone who's not closely related to you.
