Going through pregnancy with my wife changed the way I see things.

Today on the London Underground, the train was packed. I looked up and saw a pregnant woman standing in front of me, staring right at me like I was supposed to give up my seat.

Before my wife’s pregnancy, I would’ve thought she was just entitled. But now, I know pregnancy is uncomfortable, so I understand why she wanted to sit. However, understanding doesn’t mean obligation.

There are priority sits specially assigned to pregnant women and I wasn’t on it. So, there was no reason to give up my sit for a pregnancy that I am not responsible for.

I will always take responsibility for my wife and women I’m responsible to and for, not random women. Women don’t go out of their way for random men, so I don’t see why men should be expected to do so for random women.

I owe no random woman chivalry!!!
