My ex spouse is one of those designers, and one of my best friends is in charge of these licensing deals for another major designer. All wording on the tags and in the ads for these stores is carefully chosen to make you think you’re getting high end items at a discounted price, but look closely.
Ex: “Compare to $49.99” doesn’t actually mean “this used to cost $49.99.” It’s just saying “the price on our tag is a different price than $49.99.” None of this is illegal, but it is highly deceptive.
I thought everyone knew this, but: almost everything in “overstock” stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Burlington, etc. is actually manufactured specifically to be sold in those stores. Almost none of it is overstock or discounted in any way. The “compare” prices are made up. The home decor, the clothing, the kitchen items, the furniture, all of it. Factories in China and India make tons of this stuff, the corporations choose from catalogs, and then items are branded with familiar names.
my favorite part of the bible is when jesus, instead of telling women how to dress, tells men to gouge out their eyes and cut off their hands if they’re not capable of controlling themselves.
you can fake your way when you're in your 20s and 30s cos you're young, life's exciting
money can be sort of a motivating factor but what happens is this; you're less and less engaged in your work. you're not connected deeply, you're kind of bored, you're not paying deep attention
you're sort of skating by and by your late 30s, it starts to catch up with you
and people are coming up who are younger than you, who are handsomer, who are less expensive and they replace you. now you're downsized, you're out of a job and suddenly you don't have the skills to adapt cos you didn't really follow something you were meant to follow and out of shape.
I brought and was having Malt at work, colleague came in “that looks nice,I have never seen that drink before”

I saw a comedian explain a dysfunctional childhood in the best way.
He said “okay yeah I know I am 37 and I shouldn’t still be upset about what my parents did to me as a kid. But let me ask you a question…
If you were in a building with bad foundation would you feel safer on the 37th floor?!”

At the family barbecue my cousin’s husband kept joking that “period mood swings are just an excuse to be a bitch.” His 13-year-old daughter finally said, “Dad, when you have a kidney stone you cry and everyone brings you ice packs. When Mom has endometriosis she still packs your lunch. Sit down.” The table went quiet so fast you could hear the burgers sizzle.
Neither are women. They're also not allowed to cry. When they cry, they re denied leadership positions. They're told they're emotional. They're too sensitive.
They're not logical. They're not even allowed to cry when they're abused. They're being "dramatic."They' They're not allowed to cry about the suffering happening around the world because if they cry that means they're weak.
Went to jury duty for a dui case and the only evidence was the cops testimony. No video of the car swerving, no breathalyzer, I’m just supposed to believe a cop. Yeah fucking right 😂 they dismissed me real quick
