@tobyasky Well, seems pretty much a new squad. They'd need time to adapt and click as a team. I hope they find the synergy fast. Else they'd sack De Zerbi. When you've been backed that much, the board will expect results.
@mosali_99@FabrizioRomano I get you. My summation is improved game time management. If we are winning a game comfortably, he could be subbed early. He doesn't have to play some cup games till the latter stages
Everyone wants to play as much as possible but it's the duty of the coach to control it.
@NealGardner_ He needs to rest. I didn't expect him to start the game yesterday. There are more attacking options and Flick should also manage his game time better. We need him and other key players fresh and ready for the latter stages of the UCL.
Game management will be crucial.
@McFlybowy I also think the addition of playing where the pressure is a bit lower will help those players thrive. Especially for Savinho, there were flashes here and there but it didn't just work at City
Hopefully he ticks at Spurs. If it doesn't work there, he should just leave the epl
@vanemrys15 True that. But then again, last season was the best time to sign a striker based on their availability in the market. It was always going to be hard this window.
Best bet, we play with a false 9 and allow Hamza grow, then probably try for Alvarez, Kane or Haaland next season.
@Footballtweet It'd been nice to see other top players they evaluated before coming to the conclusion.
Fantastic player Cherki is. My only grouse is him being the profile they chose as a replacement for KDB, going by what he brought to the table.
I guess there's also a lot fans don't see.
@FabrizioRomano Why do players agree to lengthy contracts at certain clubs?
This is working with the assumption that Madrid and Barca are the pinnacle of football.
Don't they think they can do so well to court attention at the highest level?
Am I missing something?
@dio48510 I just tweeted this somewhere π
They seem like completely different profiles with AM and technical ability as the similarities
Reading of the game, impact on the game, deciding games, final balls, decision making... Not the right comparison at all
Maybe options were limited.
@McFlybowy It's beautiful to see what goes on behind the scene though.
I'm not still sure if their profiling was spot on though. Cherki for KDB doesn't seem like perfect profiling to me. Technique, yes. Box to box tendency, shots, reading of the game, picking out the final pass, nah.
@FabrizioRomano At this rate, if Spurs don't ball, they'd be serious banter material.
Last season's performance has clearly rattled the board and they've responded accordingly. It remains to be seen if De Zerbi can bring it all together with a series of fine displays and a dominant season.
@FabrizioRomano He should kill it for Inter this season. A fine player on his day. Should thrive in the Serie A. Inter getting set to defend their title.
They look like they have a fine mix of energy and experience: Curtis, Spence, and Stones.
Let's see how it pans out.
@FabrizioRomano@Record_Portugal Oops! Thought he was going to form the bedrock of Tottenham's pivot especially seeing his performances for them in the last few of last season.
Oh well, wish him well on his journey. Seems a fine player.
@AdamJoseph I think they need to take a step back and breathe, recalibrate.
One thing is true. An era has ended. Some greats have left. And that will take a while to fill, even if they buy the right profiles.
Not sure they should have got Anderson, Bouaddi and Wharton seem better fits.
