It can also mean falling trees which can be very dangerous and may block roads. If your plans are flexible, it's a good time to reschedule. If you still choose to come, be extremely careful (especially on the coast) and consider other accommodations rather than camping.
⚠️With high winds predicted through Monday, the park is proactively closing several coastal campgrounds and strongly cautioning visitors. On the Olympic Peninsula, a wind storm can mean life-threatening waves on the coast.
@TeaFea2 The NPS's leadership is committed to restoring permanent visitor services at Hurricane Ridge, though the specific scope and timing of that project remains uncertain as we will have a public planning process, including work with members of Congress and other partners.
Olympic National Park will reopen the Hurricane Ridge area on June 27 after a fire destroyed the Hurricane Ridge Day Lodge.
Access will be limited. Due to restroom capacity, the daily limit is 315 vehicles.

@cfreiborg Hurricane Ridge is the only area with a paved road to the mountains. The other option is Deer Park. Check out a previous post by us to get the details because it does require some extra consideration. Lake Crescent is another great option.
Hunter Fraser, a backpacker that has been missing since June 7th, self-rescued via the Dosewallips River Trail with the assistance of other hikers. He was driven to Quilcene, WA where his family, park personnel, and medical responders met him.
