@humansofjplife In Japanese labor law and administrative practice, this scenario is treated as indirect public reprimand (関節的な面前叱責), and it is frequently recognized as power harassment.
@humansofjplife If an employer wishes to use a past mistake as a teaching moment for the organization, the legal and professional requirement is to resolve and counsel the individual privately first, strip the case completely of identifiable markers, and focus solely on operational prevention.
@restisents Claiming the Japanese 10th-century Tale of Genji, the world's first novel, is 'about a cat' is like saying Beowulf is 'about a dog.' Genji is a 1300-page fictional romance and political court intrigue novel. Yes, there are a few cats, but they're not the main plot.
@Lisa_Twaronite Amazes me how some forget that not long ago, society viewed us, LGB, as a 'pathological problem'—challenging that was seen as infringing on 'freedom of belief' and is still seen as such by some.
🌈Congratulations to Thailand from Tokyo Rainbow Pride!🌈

On September 24th, Thailand made history as the King approved a groundbreaking same-sex marriage bill, becoming the first country in Southeast Asia to legally recognize same-sex marriages! 🎉
While we celebrate this incredible victory, we also reflect on Japan’s ongoing journey, as same-sex marriage remains unrecognized here. At Tokyo Rainbow Pride, we’re more determined than ever to continue our fight for equality and human rights. We will keep advocating for legal recognition of marriage equality in Japan—just as it is now in Thailand—so that everyone can live with pride, authenticity, and the legal protection they deserve. 🌟

Sad news for Pride Month from our friends in Shanghai:
“Our last safe space for queer women in China was forced to close down. It was the last day yesterday. There has been a lot of harassment from the government. One officer said “LGBT must die” in English to the owners.”

Found a place in Tokyo that serves a good D&G. I finally feel part of the family. Love your show. Every one loves William, whom I think is fabulous, but my heart is with Jordan, who I just want to hug and squeeze hard.
@KeithZhai Condolences. I remember his kindness when in 1995 I was a cub reporter for Reuters and travelled to Beijing and he welcomed me and took me out to dinner even though I was not there for work.
The Japan Society of Northern California is hosting a free hybrid English only discussion titled “The Journey to LGBTQ Rights in Japan and the US” in scheduled for February 27 at 8pm Japan time. More details and registration at the below link:

Tokyo Rainbow Pride 2024 is looking of volunteers for the April 19-21 Pride Festival and Parade who are multilingual (Japanese, English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean and/or sign language). All instructions will however be in Japanese.
@Lisa_Twaronite Not going to comment on the comparison. But my grandfather (when at Domei) wrote that most Japanese with overseas experience were horrified at the attack but most of the others were clueless and jingoistic to the core.
