Here’s my rough estimates of the financial harm clubs and players suffered from 2009/10 to 2017/18, adjusted for inflation plus 4% yearly interest:

Clubs: ~£1.09–1.15bn (~£2.38–2.52bn today), including ~£580m (~£1.27bn today) from relegation

Players: ~£170–200m (~£375–435m today)

Combined rough estimate: £1.26–1.35bn (~£2.76–2.96bn)

Not included: lost sponsorship and commercial deals, cup and UCL runs City cut short for other clubs, or other relegated sides who could argue they'd have stayed up.

And that's before counting the owners, sponsors and investors who put money into these clubs. It's a whole ecosystem of losses that can be justified.

Okay, now that we’ve gone club by club, year by year through the losses from the charged era, there’s another argument that needs to be made.

I think Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal also have a serious case to examine over the FIVE Man City league titles won after 2017/18.

And their lawyers should start with one line from José Mourinho:

“They are investments from the past, not from the last two years.”

If you follow Mourinho’s logic.
