One of the reasons why submission feels good is because it replaces performance with permission. He no longer has to pretend he is above wanting, and he no longer has to act unaffected. He is allowed to want deeply, openly, even 'embarrassingly', because the dynamic gives that want a container. The control he lets go of is not necessarily his dignity, but the constant effort of hiding.
