Almost 10 years ago, I had the opportunity to be a Guardian on an Honor Flight to Washington DC. Even though it was cold and raining in early May, the Marines on the trip insisted we stop at the Marine Corps Memorial so they could pay tribute to their fallen brothers and sisters. The Marine Corps Memorial is designed after an iconic photo taken at Mount Suribachi, during the battle of Iwo Jima.
Did you know that a Marine from the Gila River Tribe is one of the Marines depicted in this photo? His name is Ira Hayes.

Union activists' new attack on Arizona's ESA program is an anti-student embarrassment, even by the standards of those who tried indefinitely locking kids out of our public schools in the wake of the pandemic:

❌Confiscates college savings from military families, foster care kids, special ed students, and more, regardless of family income.

❌Kicks thousands of kids out of the ESA program based on an arbitrary income threshold, while continuing to fund even the wealthiest families 100% as long as they agree to attend a public school.

❌Punishes ESA families who save year to year and forces the wasteful spending habits of government onto families, via a 100% annual tax on any remaining funds.

❌Advertises phony “protections” against spending on non-educational items, which are already illegal under the current program.

❌Implements unlimited state control over private education.

❌Subjects private schools to the same state testing regime that has produced proficiency rates less than 40% among Arizona public schools.

House Speaker Steve Montenegro responds to Governor Hobbs’ veto of the tax relief and tax conformity bill passed to lower costs and give Arizona families certainty before tax season.

It provided relief for working families, seniors, and small businesses by aligning Arizona tax law with federal changes. Governor Hobbs vetoed the bill without offering a replacement plan, creating confusion and uncertainty for millions of Arizona taxpayers and employers.

The Legislature acted responsibly. The consequences of this veto rest with the Governor.
