From 1956 until 1979 we met at the Café Royal on Regent Street. Now a 5 star hotel, the Café was founded by Daniel Nicols, who was a mason himself and built lodge meeting rooms within the building. During the 1960s more than 400 lodges called this remarkable building their home.
The Public School Lodges' Council Festival takes place every year at one of its 35 member schools. This year it is being hosted by Stowe Lodge no.9002 in the school's magnificent grounds and buildings. The Old Marlburians last hosted it in Marlborough in 2007.
@page303 Likewise! I registered this account a long time ago but we've only just become active on social media. Looks like we're a bit late to the party. Looking forward to our online sojourns 🙂
After its consecration in 1911, the OM Lodge met at Pagani's Restaurant at 40-48 Great Portland Street, London. Renowned for its romantic and bohemian atmosphere which attracted both local and international high society, we met there continuously until 1926.
In 2011 we convened in London for a special meeting to celebrate 100 years since the creation of the lodge. This jewel was struck to commemorate the centenary and was available to all members. #marlborough#centenary#freemason
We meet at Freemasons' Hall in central London. Built in 1933 in Art Deco style, it houses lodge meeting rooms with incredible interiors. It has been used as a location for many film and TV shows, from Marvel and Bond films to The Apprentice.
Masonic jewels can be struck to celebrate significant events in a lodge's history - in this case, the creation of the Old Marlburian Lodge itself. This jewel was crafted from silver and enamel in 1910, and was presented to every founder of the lodge at that first meeting in 1911.
Our lodge number is 3533. This means that we are the 3533rd lodge within the United Grand Lodge of England which was officially founded in 1717, although individual lodges were extant for many years before that. Find out about Freemasonry in England at https://t.co/iHm00K1xNa
Many public schools have a masonic lodge for alumni. We keep in touch via our own Old Marlburian Lodge and also when we get together with other school lodges. The OM Lodge meets in London 3 times a year, and we welcome all OMs and beaks. Please contact us if you wish to attend.
