@bolderston_mark A beautiful grand tourer, but the DB6 is more refined and, imho, offers a better drive.
The DB5 will always suffer (or benefit if you own one) from the James Bond premium.
@bolderston_mark I had a Mk2 1600E, which was a nice car to drive, but very light at the front. It could slip on greasy surfaces, but otherwise good. It could take 4 adult men in reasonable comfort. I wonder if a bigger (heavier) engine would have helped, 3L for instance....
@CallumMckeefery@AutoPap@hjwakerley@ListerLawrence The mechanicals are pretty bulletproof too, but I wouldn't describe it as "not expensive"!
Ernie could probably get in & out easily! A game of human origami in mine.
@bolderston_mark A legend in its own lunchtime. Every young man's dream car at the time, though there was a curious debate about whether the RS1600 was actually better.
@bolderston_mark If you're a contortionist who's happy to wear a lap belt then you'll be OK.
I'd buy one if Jag brought an updated version in an identical body out now.
@motormobilias I'd probably have gone with the BMW from that era / list but that Merc engine is a gem, if the car hasn't dissolved by now. You'll probably find more restored Mercs of that era around now than Beemers though.
