If we found microscopic life on Mars the media would go ballistic with excitement
Yet here on Earth species after species the likes of which we will never see again are on the verge on extinction and all we get from the media is
deadly silence
@medialens And then Saif murdered in cold blood after however many years he had spent as a prisoner in solitary confinement.
His experiences make the small things any of us suffer sound pathetic.
@medialens C'mon Media Lens! They WERE 'the rats' he spoke of and Gaddaffi went spare, used strongman words.. THEN the bombs rained down.
Africa's most successful nation was destroyed & those who did ALL the West had asked under Saif's guidance were killed in the name of protecting Libyans.
We never get used to the brazen whitewashing of BBC reporting:
'Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was long seen as the most influential and feared figure in the country after his father, who ruled Libya from 1969 until being ousted and killed during an uprising in 2011.'
An uprising? Like a popular uprising? Nothing to do with the fact that 260 NATO aircraft and 21 ships launched 26,500 raids destroying ‘over 5,900 military targets including over 400 artillery or rocket launchers and over 600 tanks or armored vehicles’, according to NATO's 'Final Mission Stats'.
'We' got the oil, but it was about democracy, of course:
'However, in 2021 he announced he would run for the presidency in elections which were then postponed indefinitely.'
Okay, maybe not...

@EcoDev5 So smart—spread the weight so as not to break the ice! I had to figure this out myself to stop sinking into mud out paddleboarding this summer. I lay on the board as a way to distribute my weight and used my limbs to propel me across the surface. This thinking can save your life.
@JamesEstrin But belief group does matter—and is not on the list
It was wrong of the NYT, NatGeo, Guggenheim and the State Department to fund members of a gang involved in belief superiority hate crime & persecution over more than 8 years who made an attempt to kill into fiction for awards
@tortoise@caitlinmoran Can the origin of bots be ascertained? I have an outsized number adding me as a friend that are fronted by images of women, largely of the backs of their heads and text indicating they are Japanese. I cannot imagine Japan is in any way involved in sending bots to an unknown Brit.

@Laursel15 @kaybebop_ The consequences of their action is likely to be detrimental to public access to art which is a privilege that these two women take for granted clearly.
They chose to abuse the work of a deceased artist who struggled in poverty and suffered with mental health issues.
