Since you've innocently misunderstood the point, let me spell out the obvious even more clearly.

Let's take as an example a woman with MRKH syndrome, who was born with a congenital abnormality: an absent or undeveloped uterus. Notwithstanding that anomaly, she has a reproductive system organised around producing eggs instead of sperm, so she is unambiguously female. No male can have MRKH syndrome; one might even say that MRKH syndrome represents conclusive proof that the individual born with it is female.

I myself was born with a congenital abnormality: a bleeding disorder. I don't consider myself less human because of it, but my blood is demonstrably defective. That still doesn't make me a brand new type of human being, nor does it mean an inability to clot should be considered a standard trait of all human beings.

It's my good fortune that there's no anti-science ideological movement currently trying to hijack bleeding disorders for its own ends. Should that ever happen, though, I can promise you I'll fight to the bitter end not to have my medical history reduced to a glib and ignorant talking point, as gender identity ideologues insist on doing to men and women with DSDs.

I studied in the academic department at Cambridge that later employed Jason Arday. Here's just some of the crap I learnt: For one module, I wrote a lengthy essay about how cultural products like kids’ cartoons and jazz songs serve as instruments of capitalist oppression. I got a top mark on that paper (despite knowing at the time that I was essentially regurgitating complete crap).

While studying for another paper I had a debate with the professor, an eminent anthropologist, because she insisted that native tribes could fly through the trees - not metaphorically, but that they could literally fly because they believed they could fly. After all, who are we to question ‘indigenous ways of knowing’...

For a different course, I read long ‘research papers’ which argued that the fact that black kids are excluded from schools more than white kids proves systemic racism exists in education. Crucially, they ignored the fact that white kids are excluded more than, e.g., Japanese kids, a statistic which, applying the exact same logic, would suggest that the education system is systemically biased in favour of, erm, Japanese kids (which obviously it isn’t).

Something that was held up as proof of the existence of this largely imaginary racism was that teachers tell kids not to use booming voices in the classroom, and not to put up their hoods or wear their trousers down below their pants.

On another occasion, my supervisor casually praised some students agitators who were trying to shut down a talk by someone they disagreed with. I said that I didn’t think this was something to celebrate, because I believed in freedom of speech. He got visibly angry, and proceeded to tell me that free speech was not worth protecting in a capitalist system (or something along those lines).

In my all-important final year, a lecturer let me know that I shouldn’t worry too much about my exam results, because as someone who was not from an upper class background I should be more focussed on using my grasp of leftist revolutionary theory to further the interests of the proletariat. Writing this down, it strikes me that it’s so hilariously mental that some of you will presumably assume I’m lying. But there’s no way I’m leaving it out, because it happened.

Unlike the academics who make a living from this stuff, I couldn’t bring myself to build a career pumping out whiney, divisive, intellectually incoherent rubbish. But others, as we’ve seen exposed in recent days, do so with gusto. And are lauded for it.

And there ended the matter. It is possible to be a genius nine-year-old with the reading age of an 18-year-old and acquire a degree, but it is not possible to acquire a degree with the reading age of a nine-year-old. Education Studies requires engagement with complex academic texts, specialised vocabulary, critical analysis, research papers, not to mention essay-writing. Someone with the reading age of Year4-5 simply could not do this. Yet he was believed and handled with kid gloves. I'd say that could fairly be described as racism, too.

And Zack Polanski has doubled down on his demands for greater press regulation. He also doesn’t appear to have much time for debate — or for people who hold opinions contrary to his own.

Freedom of the press is a central pillar of a democratic society. The fact that the leader of a mainstream British political party is speaking in such forceful and ominous terms about restricting our press should concern us all.

It appears that the leader of the Green Party, Zack Polanski, does not understand the importance of a free press.

A free press is a vital component of a democratic society — and Britain has a proud history in this regard.

The Green Party leader has now demanded that it is time we “sorted out the press”, citing “misinformation” about the climate.

That sounds rather ominous — and authoritarian.

Despots seek to bring the press to heel when they are unable or unwilling to engage in debate.

This is chilling rhetoric from the leader of a mainstream political party.

Wind providing a mere 3% of UK electricity this morning. So we’re having to import 10 times that amount at massive cost. Plus generate almost the same from gas-fired stations expensively kept for this sort of back up. As a result we’re paying an average £136/MWh. Our energy policy is a costly shambles.
