I'm extremely disciplined in many areas of life. I went back to college at 37 yrs old, with 2 kids and a job, and graduated this year.
I'm an extremely dedicated father that has been present in my kids life since the day they were born.
But when it comes to alcohol, the absolute truth is I'm not disciplined and I've never been.
As you guys know, I've spent a lot of energy these last few weeks on whether to be done or to keep drinking.
I'm done. But I know I'm powerless over it and I accept that as the truth.
In the coming days, the first real test will be on my days off Thursdays & Fridays.
I'm going to pray to God tonight for help in this journey. God knows in my heart I want out of the cycle.
Day 2
@francescoranchi Wanted to learn more about myself. Went back for Psychology, then switched to Computer Science, then majored in Human Development. Have an AA in Behavioral Sciences and a bachelor's in Human Development
That Chris Johnson video hit me pretty hard. I feel for him and his family. ALS is a terrible disease.
It took my father. He was diagnosed in June of 2021 and died Thanksgiving day that year.
I live in Cali and he was in Pennsylvania at the time. I never got to fly out and visit him. I called him almost everyday. Some days he answered, some days he didnt. Some days he sounded okay, other days he didn't.
I remember calling the morning he passed. I literally heard the nurse tell the doctor I was on the phone with that he passed. He must've passed right as I was calling.
It was really hard in me. I miss him a lot. But its also a great motivating factor for me.
To be sober and be the best dad that I can be for my kids. Nobody knows how long we have here and the time that I do have, I want to make the most of it, and try to be the best man and father to my two kids.
Tomorrow I am a volunteer for my daughters school field trip. I'm really going to remember moments like this and cherish them.
Day 3 in the books, thanks for reading
Today is day 3. I slept for 10 hours last night and it was one of the best nights sleep I've had in a longgg time.
I won't be drinking today. Have work in a few hours then I'll be heading to bed.
I'm off tomorrow and the next day. That'll be my first real test.
At this point, there's no excuses.
I'm ready for this.
