I had my students practice metacognition (while having them make a bunch of resources for me) by assigning a Kahoot project. Each wrong answer had to come from a common mistake, among other requirements. Here are their reflections! #iteachmath #mtbos

Added an element to a typical “around the world” activity. Each group of students got sticky notes where they could leave questions/answers/advice for other travelers ✈️🤓 it made students WAY more likely to revisit a problem they’d previously given up on. #mtbos #iteachmath

We first introduced radians on Friday. TODAY, literally 6 of my Precalc students said, “I get it!” once they saw the angles arranged like this. I never explicitly taught reference angles, yet they found the concept on their own. Proud teacher moment :) #mtbos

@treverreeh AMAZING! I make assignments called “problem sets” that students know are formatted progressively more difficult from a-[ending letter]. Students love them and begin to build understanding of what “difficult” problems look like versus simply unfamiliar notation.

@ajjuliani Whenever I have a good idea for a new activity, I’ll throw it into ChatGPT for a rough draft. “Write an activity for an Algebra 2 class that relates quadratic equations to famous parabolic bridges” or “Write the outline for a Precalculus project exploring Islamic architecture.”

@CmonMattTHINK I do this! The first person to show it to me was my Calc 2 prof in college. We do a lot of “f of ice cream cone” and “g of dog head” in my class, and it both lightens the mood and helps with the concept

How cute are my HA2 kids? Instead of a “review” day, they created a board game that covered topics from 3.1-3.5. They self-scaffolded, determined the main ideas of the unit, and created their own “easy” and “hard” questions. Excited to share the finished product (and play it)!!!

@MrDeltaMath my students love deltamath, but they struggle with sections that require drawing (ex “plot points & graph exponential function”). They can’t draw the lines with their mouses and get frustrated. Is there a way to JUST remove that element?
