My friend asked if she could borrow one of my dresses for a dinner because she said she had nothing to wear. I agreed because we’re close, and I told her to bring it back the next day. A few days later, I saw a picture of her wearing the same dress at another event. When I asked about it, she said she thought I wouldn’t mind because she had already worn it once and it was “basically hers for the week.”
A rundown house.
Two strangers stood inside.
Then I saw my mom kneeling on the floor.
I panicked.
I grabbed my skateboard and kicked the door open.
“GET AWAY FROM MY MOM!”
Then I froze.
Nobody was hurting her.
She was holding a tiny puppy.
The two strangers were smiling.
My mom looked at me and smiled.
“Finally. You made it.”
My dad rushed in behind me.
“What is going on?”
Mom looked down at the puppy.
“I wanted you both here before I left.”
My heart sank.
Then she smiled through tears.
“I know we've all been hurting since we lost Buster.”
She lifted the puppy toward us.
“So I thought maybe we needed a reason to smile again.”
The puppy jumped down and immediately trotted over to me.
Then it followed me around the room...
just like Buster used to.
I looked at my dad.
His eyes were wet.
His lips started trembling.
And for the first time since Buster died...
my dad smiled.
Mom didn't just bring home a puppy that day.
She brought our family back.
I was nine years old when my mom texted me:
“Come to my location. Now.”I checked the pin, It was a random house in the worst part of town then I called her immediately but She declined.
Then another text appeared:“Don’t tell your father. Please come.”
My mom always answered my calls.
My hands started shaking, Our dog, Buster, had died just a month earlier, and suddenly I was terrified I was about to lose my mom too, I crept downstairs.
My dad had been lying on the couch for days, barely speaking since Buster died.
I slipped outside But there was one problem, I was only nine.
I had no idea how to get to her.
Then my phone buzzed again.
“You’re running out of time.”I grabbed my dad's old skateboard—the one I used to ride while Buster chased me down the sidewalk—and took off, My dad spotted me.“Hey! Where are you going?”
I didn't stop, He followed me in his car
When I finally reached the location, my heart dropped.

Were you there when PlayStation changed gaming forever? 🎮
After the cartridge era (N64, Sega) came PlayStation, loading CDs and getting lost in games for hours.
Which console defined your childhood: the original PlayStation (1994), the sleeker PS One (2000), or PS 2?
For me, I started gaming in the late ’90s, so it’s gotta be the original PlayStation.
What was the first PlayStation game you remember playing?
Once a gamer, forever a gamer.
I walked into my wife's hospital room and found a man I'd never seen before standing over her with a syringe.
He was wearing scrubs, His hand was resting on her shoulder, Her eyes were half-open from the anesthesia, I had worked in that ICU for nine years.
I knew every nurse on that floor, He wasn't one of them.
He looked at me and smiled.
“You must be the husband.”My entire body froze, My wife couldn't move.
The needle was inches from her arm.
“Do me a favor,” he whispered. “Don't make a sound.”
“Who are you?” I said
“You don't recognize me?”
He smiled.
“But she will.”
Then he told me why.
Three years earlier, my wife had reported his wife, Linda Hayes, to the medical board for stealing medication.
Linda lost her medical license.
Two months later, she died by suicide.
My wife's eyes suddenly widened.
