In the modern social imaginary, "a man can lead a reasonably full life without a family, a fixed local residence, or a religious affiliation, but if he is stateless he is nothing ... There is no salvation on earth outside the framework of an organized state."
-Joseph Strayer
I caught a few glimpses of the RNC, and there were quite a few moments that stuck out. But the one I keep coming back to is when Trump said that Franklin Graham asked him not to curse when he speaks.
I just keep thinking of how Trump has turned the 7 deadly sins into a way of life and made a mockery of the Beatitudes and the Sermon on the Mount… and Franklin asked him not to curse.
Doug Mills, a New York Times photographer, appeared to capture an image of a bullet streaking past Donald Trump’s head, a former FBI agent said. He took the photo while documenting the rally that turned into an attempt on a former president’s life. https://t.co/nhtORaXDZj
“What does evangelism feel like? Hit and miss. Mainly miss. For the last two thousand years that’s how the kingdom has grown.”

@JoanneChoLee1 So please know that you have my prayers (and my ears if you’d ever like to talk), even if not my whole undivided Twitter attention (I’m actually hardly on here). Grace and peace in the name of Christ. 🙏
@JoanneChoLee1 Always open to listen and engage if you’d ever like to talk personally, but I’m unconvinced of the fruitfulness and productivity of Twitter thread exchanges apart from personal relationships and actual dialogue.
@JoanneChoLee1@MosesYLee@DianeLangberg@KyleJamesHoward Hi Joanne, just to answer your question - yes, we do at my local church (Reformed Margins is an old blogging website actually, and not a church). Again, I'm really sorry for the trauma you've experienced in the church, and I'll be praying for your continued healing.
@JoanneChoLee1@MosesYLee I can understand that. Just want you to know that I’m available to listen if that’s something you’d ever desire. Prayers for your continued healing and I am so sorry for the trauma you experienced! Grace & Peace
@JoanneChoLee1@MosesYLee Wow, Joanne, I’m really sorry to hear about this. Would be down to chat about these things offline if that would be helpful. I’ve come to have some concerns about Berean, even as I am thankful for my season of life there.
.@OngDrew87 presenting our second session—so much of the deconstruction conversation is centered on whiteness. Grateful for this brother for giving POCs a space to deconstruct (and reconstruct!) with sensitivity to our cultural presuppositions.
I'm currently reading Stephen Gaukroger's The Emergence of a Scientific Culture, fascinated by the argument that, for early mechanistic thought, the eternal ceased to be transcendent (Plato) and became microscopic (atoms don't change). = A material eternity.
