@LunaraSolTales@GuntherEagleman These are Kenyans running off the ferry to go to work in the morning rush hour, be informed and let us not encourage misinformation. It is a Ferry in Mombasa Kenya
@Mick_O_Keeffe Isn't the St Patrick's parade bigger than this all over the world. Correct me if I am wrong. https://t.co/MzYhRaRPNo and again not very ashamed of this post https://t.co/TLJDH5qMd8
This is something @DeptofFHed@DeptJusticeIRL and @DeptEnterprise need to seriously look into. We have a lot of unexploited talent in the pool of Non-EU spouses. Get rid of the work permit barriers and open up the job market for Non-EU PhD. students' spouses.
PhD. students in Ireland are paid under minimum wage and non-Eu PhD. students' spouses are not allowed to work, which make their life much more difficult and stressful. We call for allowing the spouses to work to reduce this financial and mental stress.

Over the moon happy that my PhD student @OngollyF has passed his PhD Viva a few days ago. Huge thanks to the wonderful exam committee, Profs Colm McLaughlin, Nadine Beckmann and Donna Marshall (L to R below), and hongera to (soon to be) Dr Ongolly!
@MISFIRES_ERC @SmurfitSchool
@iasociety Conferences need to be held in places that are more accessible and have less visa restrictions otherwise 'Montreal' will happen again this year. Am not sure how many have secured a German visa to AIDS 2024.
🌐 Accessibility is a core priority of #AIDS2024. We offer lower registration fees for delegates from upper-middle-income, lower-middle-income & low-income countries, as well as students, postdocs & young persons.

@paimadhu @healtheconomics Makes alot of sense. No need of taking conferences where it will take a delegate 8 months to prepare for a 3 day event most of which will be filling in forms and waiting.
It is my pleasure to introduce to you Kenyan newest Daktari, Congratulations Dr. @RonaldWafula for making us proud and adding the number of intellectuals to our great nation. It has been quite a PhD. journey, and we are all proud of you!
RE: PhD in Finance
Our exhibition of art by people living with chronic energy-limiting illnesses has moved to the wonderful public library in Dun Laoghaire! If you live nearby, please check it out, well worth it! Thanks to @LCAIreland and particularly Julia Corey for all their support! Until May 30
While this is progressive news, we have spouses of Non-EU PhD students who are highly talented but cannot access the labour market, Ireland could explore this talent too.
📣 @HMcEntee & @peterburkefg welcome agreement of Gov on actions to increase competitiveness of Ireland in attracting skills
Ireland will enable spouses/partners of employment permit holders already in the State to work to fill vital gaps in workforce

@DeptofFHed @podonovan @SimonHarrisTD as former minister DFHERIS and now Taoseach, support Non-EU PhD students spouses to also access the Irish job market. This is a talented pool that Ireland could explore. Support their career development as their spouses are contributing in cutting edge research.
Today @DeptJusticeIRL announced a progressive move to grant spouses of General Work employment permit working rights under stamp 1G a change from stamp 3, I hope this will soon be extended to unexploited talent of NonEU PhD students spouses who cannot work

@DeptofFHed support spouses of Non-EU PhD students to equally access the labour market and continue with their careers as the PhD student contributes to research. @podonovan Non-EU PhD students need your support.
@DeptJusticeIRL Finally granting working permission to spouses of General Work Permit holders on stamp 2 permission is a progressive move. I hope this will soon be extended to spouses of Non-EU PhD students a pull of talent that Ireland could explore.
