5 THINGS TO REMEMBER TODAY:
1. The Lord is my shepherd. (Ps. 23:1)
2. I can do all things. (Phil. 4:13)
3. Be still and know God. (Ps. 46:10)
4. Walk by faith, not sight. (2 Cor. 5:7)
5. God is love and light. (1 John 4:8)
Dog at the park walked up to me and just sat on my feet.
Owner: I'm so sorry.
Me: It's okay.
Owner: He does this to people who are sad.
Me: What?
Owner: He's weirdly intuitive. Are you okay?
Me: Just a bad day.
Owner: He knows.
The dog didn't move.
Owner: You can pet him.
Me: You sure?
Owner: He's not leaving until you do.
I sat down and the dog climbed into my lap.
Owner: Yeah, you're getting the full treatment.
Me: Does he do this a lot?
Owner: Only when it matters.
We sat there for ten minutes.
Owner: I'm Rachel.
Me: Anna.
Rachel: He's Benson.
Me: Benson's a good boy.
Rachel: The best boy.
Benson finally got up and I felt lighter.
Rachel: You need anything?
Me: I think I'm good now.
Rachel: Benson thinks so too.
I see them at the park sometimes.
Benson always remembers me.
Still sits on my feet.
Some souls just know when you need them.
Accidentally walked into the wrong apartment last night because I was on autopilot and this guy just looked at me from his couch and said "you're two floors up."
Me: I'm so sorry.
Him: Happens more than you'd think.
Me: Really?
Him: You're the third person this month. Building needs better signage.
Me: I should go.
Him: You look exhausted. You want some water or something?
Me: (pause)
Me: Actually, yeah.
Sat in a stranger's apartment for thirty minutes. Talked about nothing important.
Him: You always this out of it?
Me: New baby. Haven't slept more than three hours in two months.
Him: Congratulations and condolences.
Me: Both feel accurate.
Him: My daughter's seven now. It gets better.
Me: Everyone says that.
Him: Because it's true. You just have to survive long enough to see it.
I went back to the right apartment. Wife asked where I'd been.
Me: Wrong floor. Met our neighbor.
Her: Which neighbor?
Me: Two floors down. Nice guy.
Her: You made a friend by breaking into his apartment?
Me: Technically I just walked in. Door was unlocked.
She laughed. First time in weeks.
I see that guy sometimes in the elevator now.
Him: How's the sleep situation?
Me: Better. Four hours last night.
Him: Progress.
Me: You were right. It's getting better.
Him: Told you. Just had to survive.
Best wrong turn I ever made.
One thing about me.. I have to marry a man with personality. Crack a lil joke. Talk a lil shxt 😂. I love playful banter. I have too much personality for boring.
