Trump's horrific escalation against Iran this weekend is a continuation of the bipartisan policy of U.S. imperialism, including years of vicious sanctions that have ravaged the standard of living for working-class Iranians. Like with his strike on Venezuela, Democratic politicians like my opponent Adam Smith are tut-tutting Trump for not seeking proper "Congressional authorization," all while utterly failing to oppose what is quickly unfolding into a dangerous regional war in the Middle East: https://t.co/9Tdwdz6zUZ
The reality is that both parties want a war to weaken Iran. Democrats like Adam Smith fully backed the war on Iraq, just as they have fully armed and funded the Israeli state's genocide in Gaza.
We need an international, working class antiwar movement, with organized mass civil disobedience and rank-and-file union members organizing towards a general strike to shut down the U.S. war machine. Unfortunately, most of the labor leadership is deeply tied to the same Democratic party which is responsible for these bloody wars. The left and labor movement need independent, class struggle leadership.

ICYMI: Amazon workers started their public testimony for Seattle's data center moratorium with a reminder that their bosses cannot retaliate against them. The next day, the company pulled 3 workers into “really threatening” interrogations.
https://t.co/eYAfEaiz47
Solidarity with Patrick Schloesser, Darius Irani, and Liesl Wigand, all of whom are tech workers at Amazon and members of Amazon Employees for Climate Justice, @AMZNforClimate.
These courageous workers spoke at Seattle City Hall during our recent speakout about the urgent need to stop the AI data center juggernaut.
Now, the Amazon bosses are "investigating" the workers and are threatening "disciplinary action, up to and including termination" against them. This is shameful but predictable. The billionaire and multimillionaire bosses will retaliate against workers fighting back. The only way to defend ourselves is to build powerful movements to go on the offensive and win working-class victories.
My Congressional campaign strongly supports the legal complaint the workers have filed with the Seattle Office for Civil Rights, alleging that Amazon executives have engaged in prohibited employment discrimination. All working people and union members should stand in solidarity with the workers to defend their jobs.
The fight to stop the AI data centers, the mass tech layoffs, war and genocide, climate catastrophe, and worker exploitation has a common denominator: we need independent movements with leaders who have the backbone to take on the billionaire class and their political spokespeople.
Join my campaign at https://t.co/sh3zyhgTI7.
My campaign is fighting to stop the AI data centers and mass layoffs, to win a public-sector living-wage jobs guarantee, to end all military aid to Israel and end all weapons and tech for genocide and imperialist war, to win free healthcare for all funded by taxing the rich, and to shut down ICE and the detention centers.
Yesterday, I spoke out against data centers and AI layoffs at the Seattle City Council.
Under mass pressure, the City Council passed a one-year moratorium on new hyperscale data centers. This is a victory for working people, but one year is far from enough.
My independent socialist campaign for Congress is the only one in this election fighting for an end to hyperscale data centers, for democratic public ownership of all existing data centers, and for a public-sector living wage jobs guarantee, funded by taxing the rich, to counter the AI-related mass layoffs.
#datacenter #socialist #independent #ai #freepalestine
AI is now a central component of genocide & war, ICE terror, the surveillance state, mass layoffs, & climate crisis because AI is the new frontier for super-profits for the super-rich.
They will absolutely not stop the AI juggernaut unless threatened by a powerful nationwide movement with leaders who have a backbone to go up against billionaires and the proven strategy to win for working people.

I am the only candidate in this race fighting to stop the damaging data center projects that are being forced on communities, and fighting for a living-wage jobs guarantee to counter the mass AI-related layoffs.
Winning any of these kinds of demands will require a strategy and bold leadership to defeat Big Tech billionaires and their Democratic and Republican political servants.
I am the only candidate in this race with a proven track record of leading movements to defeat the billionaires and win major victories for working people. I used my Seattle City Council position to build movements that won the highest minimum wage in the nation, the Amazon Tax, landmark renters' rights, and much more during my decade in office.
Come out to my campaign's Town Hall to discuss the urgent need to fight back against the hyperscale data centers being proposed across the country. These facilities are extremely damaging to the environment, and use massive quantities of water and energy, which drives up utility costs for working people. At our event, you'll hear about how members of my organization, Workers Strike Back, participated in a movement in Illinois that defeated a proposal for a 321-acre hyperscale data center!

I stand in solidarity with the family and friends of UW student Juniper Blessing. Condolences to all those mourning the loss of Juniper, who was brutally murdered recently in Seattle, while simply doing laundry. While the killer’s specific motivations remain unclear, this horrific act of violence is still another reminder of the dangerous reality facing LGBTQ+ people everywhere, even in a supposed sanctuary city like Seattle.
We need to build mass movements of working people to fight back against the right-wing, anti-trans attacks being advanced around the country.
Working people also need to set our sights beyond defending against attacks. We need to fight for major victories for LGBTQ+ people. Working people are being squeezed on every front trying to afford housing, healthcare, and food. Trans people face violence and discrimination in work and housing that make all those issues even worse.
This is why my independent revolutionary socialist campaign for Congress is demanding:
👉Stop the advance of anti-trans bills, and go on the offensive to fight for full LGBTQ+ rights
👉Free healthcare for all, including full access to all gender affirming and reproductive care and LGBTQ+ counseling services, funded by taxing the rich
👉Living-wage jobs guarantee and the right for all workers to unionize
👉National rent control to stop the price-gouging by corporate landlords, which forces LGBTQ+ and all working people out of their communities
👉Create millions of affordable homes, including free emergency housing for trans and queer people fleeing abuse, funded by taxing the billionaires
👉End all military aid to Israel and cut the trillion-dollar war budget to fund housing, education, and other social services
The fight for LGBTQ+ people goes hand in hand with the fight to win historic change for all working people. Discrimination, oppression, and violence are endemic to capitalism because in order to squeeze billions of people for profit, the billionaires and multimillionaires need to keep the working class divided in many ways. We need to get united as the working class against the attempts of the right wing and billionaire class to divide us in order to keep exploiting us.
Our campaign is proud to be endorsed by rank-and-file workers like grocery worker and UFCW 3000 member Oscar Haney (personal capacity)! Join thousands of others like Oscar who have signed up to volunteer or donate to our campaign!
“Kshama has an unparalleled track record of fighting alongside the rank-and-file of the labor movement. She relentlessly defended members of my union, UFCW 3000, against attacks on COVID Hazard Pay. Both the grocery store executives and the Democrats on the City Council tried repeatedly to end Hazard Pay, while Councilmember Sawant was fighting to make it permanent in the context of historic inflation. Kshama Sawant has been the most consistently pro-union elected representative in the country.
Electing Kshama to Congress would be a massive win for workers across the country. She has shown how to take on the bosses and the billionaires and defeat them.”
The nation's most well-known political prisoner, Mumia Abu-Jamal, has endorsed our revolutionary socialist campaign from prison:
"When was the last time you heard a politician make a promise to you? When did they keep it?
"Politicians of Democratic and/or Republican stripe are beholden to capital. The bigger and vital the issue, the higher they are beholden! We know this. We've lived this. Right?
"Kshama doesn't come from that rat-pack! She's running on the Revolutionary Workers party's socialist program.
"Given her proud political background and experience as a three-term elected socialist to Seattle's City Council, she more than deserves to be elected as the nation's first revolutionary socialist in Congress.
"Kshama Sawant for Congress!"
Mumia Abu-Jamal, revolutionary and former Black Panther, has been imprisoned for 44 years on false charges brought by the capitalist state against him as part of the overall wave of repressive and murderous attacks on the Black Panthers.
Amnesty International described the handling of Mumia’s case as, “in violation of minimum international standards that govern fair trial procedures and the use of the death penalty.” Mumia has battled the courts for years and written numerous books about the mass incarceration system, racism, U.S. imperialism, and his experience as a Black Panther.
Mumia has always maintained his complete innocence in the murder of Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981. Mumia’s attorneys have said repeatedly that evidence shows his trial was scandalously rife with judicial bias and police and prosecutorial misconduct, “like withholding of evidence, bribing or coercing witnesses to lie.”
My campaign demands FREE MUMIA!
I’m calling to end mass incarceration, shut down private prisons, stop forced and exploitative prison labor, end racist policing, and put police departments under the control of democratically-elected community boards with full power over department policy, hiring, and firing.

My main opponent. Democrat Adam Smith, has been a warmongering politician for nearly three decades. He voted for the Iraq War in 2002, a multi-year war that took the lives of a million Iraqi people. He also supported bipartisan military assaults on Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Yemen. He voted for tens of billions of dollars for the genocide in Gaza.
The shameful reality is that Smith is is not the only warmongering Democrat — 173 House Democrats have voted to fund the Gaza genocide, including many members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
Electing more Democrats preparing to be team players who maintain the status quo is not going to help build an antiwar movement that can end the genocide, the war on Iran, and the U.S.-funded Israeli assault on Lebanon, Iran, and Iraq.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our April Volunteer Day! We tabled throughout south Seattle talking to working people about how our campaign is fighting to tax the rich to fund free healthcare and against the endless wars of the Democratic and Republican parties.
My opponent, pro-war pro-genocide Democratic Congressman Adam Smith, is funded by pro-Trump billionaires and has received over $1.3 million from AIPAC and other pro-genocide Zionist groups during his career.
Our next Volunteer Day is on Saturday, May 2nd at 11:00am. Join us for the final push to collect signatures to get on the ballot, and then come out on Monday, May 4th for a press conference to turn them in and launch the next phase of our campaign! Sign up for these and other events on our website: https://t.co/kL5ivyER9G
I am running as an independent antiwar socialist for the U.S. Congress against genocidal Democrat Adam Smith.
Join my campaign at our VOLUNTEER DAY!
TOMORROW, SATURDAY
April 18th at 11 AM in Seattle
At the east entrance to the Judkins Park light rail station:
RSVP: https://t.co/vmyf6u481a
Join us to talk to hundreds of working people about what it will take to elect the first-ever revolutionary socialist to US Congress!
I was on the Seattle City Council for a decade. Because I used my office to build fighting movements and NOT to build my own career, working people and I won historic victories such as the nation's highest minimum wage and unparalleled renter protections like a $10 cap on late rent fees and a winter eviction moratorium. We defeated Jeff Bezos and other billionaires to win the Amazon Tax to fund affordable housing.
I won four elections, including defeating a attempted recall against my by Trump-supporting corporate landlords.
Winning this election to Congress will require working people to get involved in our campaign. My opponent, Adam Smith, is backed by war profiteers like billionaire Alexander Karp, the Zionist lobby, and the health insurance industry. Corporate cash will be pouring for Adam Smith, and we need a working-class volunteer army to fight back.
Join my campaign this Saturday, April 18th, for our April Volunteer Day!
See you this Saturday at @ 11 AM, starting from the Judkins Park Light Rail Station, East entrance!
RSVP at https://t.co/vmyf6u481a
We’ll hold a short rally and training followed by tabling and postering to get the word out to hundreds of working people about our independent socialist, antiwar, pro-worker campaign for Congress!
Help us gather thousands of signatures to get on the ballot before the deadline in early May.
Winning this campaign would be a historic breakthrough in US politics.
The track record of my Seattle City Council office is unparalleled because of the movement-based, fighting approach we took to win major victories for working people.
My fellow revolutionary socialists and I helped lead the movement to win the nation's highest minimum wage, the Amazon Tax, and landmark renters’ rights victories. I would take the exact same approach in Congress, using my position to build mass nationwide movements to fight the rich and their political servants in the Democratic and Republican parties.
We know that big business and the weapons industry will spend millions to try to stop us, and it will take an army of working-class volunteers to win!
Whether it’s your first time canvassing or you are a frequent volunteer, please come out on Saturday.
See you at @ 11 AM, starting from the Judkins Park Light Rail Station, East entrance!
Join Workers Strike Back this Sunday, April 12th at 12PM PT / 3PM ET, for our national monthly meeting (https://t.co/E4LukZZa83) to discuss what it will take to build a mass antiwar movement!
Trump has careened from threatening the annihilation of a ‘Whole Civilization” in Iran to announcing a tenuous two-week ceasefire. Meanwhile, Israel is still bombing Lebanon with U.S.-funded weapons and political support from the Democrats and Republicans and the American billionaire class.
Trump’s brutal war — funded by BIPARTISAN votes for the near 1 trillion dollar war budget in December 2025 — has unleashed death and destruction in the Middle East. One of the Democrats who voted to approve all that war money for Trump is Congressman Adam Smith, who has also voted to send tens of billions of dollars to Israel for the genocide in Gaza.
An estimated nine million people marched at the March 28th No Kings protest, with opposition to the war on Iran as one of the primary factors fueling the protest. A majority has also been opposed to U.S. funding of the Israeli military.
Yet, even with the mass of American working and young people ready to fight, a mass antiwar movement is conspicuously absent. The leadership of the labor movement, especially, and of liberal organizations has refused to build any organized, ongoing opposition to the war. The principal reason for this is that these leaders are overwhelmingly tied to the Democratic Party, which is responsible for the wars along with the Republican Party, and who have historically had an equally warmongering approach toward Iran.
Workers Strike Back is one of the few organizations that has been clear that a mass antiwar movement can only be built on an independent basis, with a leadership that is prepared to fight back against both pro-war parties of U.S. capitalism. This is urgent both to stop the horrors in the Middle East, and to prevent more wars, including against the working people in nations like Cuba and Venezuela.
RSVP for our monthly meeting of Workers Strike Back to get organized and fight back against both parties of imperialist war. If you’re near Peoria, IL or Rochester, MN, join the discussion in-person. (https://t.co/E4LukZZa83)
