oof is interesting because it already proved what sustained demand can do
the sound didn’t disappear because people got tired of it. roblox removed it in 2022 because of a licensing issue surrounding the original audio
in other words, the force pushing oof out was institutional: ownership, rights, contracts, platform decisions
but none of that removed the demand for it
people kept asking for oof back, referencing it, preserving it, and treating it like something that still belonged to roblox even when roblox itself no longer carried it
for three years the official product said one thing while the culture said another
eventually the platform bent back toward the culture and restored oof by popular demand
markets work on the same principle
demand is constantly pushing against whatever currently exists: limited liquidity, missing infrastructure, institutional reluctance, incompatible systems
if that demand persists, the surrounding infrastructure eventually has an incentive to reorganize around it
this is what makes oof / RBLX interesting. the people already brought oof back once, now the market gets to do it again.
