24 hours without a formal reaction from the Kenyan government even though it’s a Kenyan court that blocked the US Ebola facility.
Why is all the information about this coming from Americans?
Safarcom has been mentioned severally as an enabler to the government's abductions and prosecutions through triangulations in an Aljazera short documentary.
Zero privacy for Kenyans.
Al Jazeera has released a disturbing documentary exposing how Kenyans are allegedly being surveilled through their phones, and how Safaricom may have been enabling it.
According to the documentary, citizens’ phone data has reportedly been shared with security agencies, while spyware has allegedly been used to infiltrate devices and monitor people.
Think about that for a moment.
The same phone you use for M-Pesa, calls, WhatsApp and private family conversations could allegedly be turned into a surveillance tool against you.
This should terrify every Kenyan.
Because this is no longer about politicians.
It’s about ordinary people.
A boda rider criticizing taxes.
A journalist exposing corruption.
A university student tweeting against the government.
A parent complaining about the economy in a WhatsApp group.
If unchecked, Kenya could slowly return to the fear that existed during the Moi era, where people whispered inside homes because they feared the state was listening.
Only this time, the informer is in your pocket.
Your phone. That is why this story matters.
A government that watches its own citizens is not protecting democracy or them.
It is protecting leaders like Ruto.
And once people become afraid to speak freely, freedom dies quietly.
The High Court has held that the in duplum rule applies to all lenders including microfinances. In Faulu Microfinance Bank Limited v Kilonzo, a borrower had taken a Kshs. 569,000 loan but defaulted, prompting the lender to claim over Kshs. 621,000. Despite the matter being undefended, the trial court applied the in duplum rule and reduced the recoverable amount to about Kshs. 145,000.
On appeal, the lender argued that the rule only applies to banks, not microfinance institutions. The High Court rejected that argument, holding that the rule is a matter of public policy meant to protect borrowers from excessive interest, and therefore binds all lenders. Bottom line: no lender can hide behind technicalities to inflate debt endlessly.
SOMETHING IS HAPPENING ACROSS THIS PLANET THAT THE NEWS WILL NEVER COVER.
PEOPLE ARE LEAVING.
NOT MOVING TO A DIFFERENT CITY. NOT CHANGING JOBS.
LEAVING THE SYSTEM ENTIRELY. AND BUILDING SOMETHING THE SYSTEM CANNOT REACH.
Right now on every continent human beings are acquiring land.
Learning to grow food. Collecting rainwater. Generating their own energy.
Finding each other deliberately and building communities around shared values instead of shared zip codes.
It is happening in Kentucky and Costa Rica and Portugal and Thailand and South Africa and New Zealand. Canada the USA and the rest of the globe.
Quietly. Simultaneously. Without coordination. As if something is calling them all at once.
This is what the new earth actually looks like.
Not a political movement. Not a protest. Not a petition.
Families waking up before dawn to tend gardens that feed them.
Children growing up knowing where food comes from and how to grow more of it.
Elders passing knowledge that the industrial age tried to make obsolete.
Communities making decisions together around fire instead of through screens.
Within a generation the landscape of human life will look unrecognizable.
Not because of government policy or technological breakthrough.
Because enough individuals made the same quiet decision I will not participate in a system that requires my dependency to function.
History has always been changed by the ones who stopped asking permission and started building.
The children being born into these communities will never know what it means to wonder where their food comes from.
They will never know what it means to trade their hours for a number in an account controlled by people they never chose.
They will never know the specific loneliness of living surrounded by people and having no one who actually knows them.
They will grow up sovereign. And they will build a world that reflects it.
The system is not being defeated.
It is being made irrelevant.
You cannot sustain a control structure over people who do not need what you are offering.
You cannot keep a population dependent that has learned to provide for itself.
The new earth is not coming after the collapse. It is being built during it.
somewhere right now someone just bought their first seed packet.
someone just made an offer on land they will never mortgage their soul to own.
someone just said out loud for the first time I am done.
and the world quietly became a little less controllable.
join them. 🌿
Sir, we keep going around in circles on this issue and pretend that the government has a handle over the cartels involved in looting the royalties of artists.
Let me make it extremely simple for you to address this.
Use me as an example, a prolific music producer, songwriter, and performer.
How much has MCSK paid out to me since I registered as a member number 3964 about 25 years ago?
What about PRISK? Who has been receiving my KAMP proceeds?
Who has been receiving my royalties when my songs are played at State House, national holidays by The Police band, etc. and on all these radio and TV stations?
Now tabulate this same scenario to all the artists and explain where this 70% is and who is paying it out.
Who has gobbled the payments for my music when Kenya Kwanza and Azimio used my songs for their campaigns?
I could go on. Everybody imagines that I have made millions out of my prolific work and the government paints that picture but I challenge you to tell me if I have ever made even half 1 million from MCSK royalties in 25 years.
You people need to be ashamed of the lies you propagate in the media.
. @OCTOPIZZO is standing on business today. Man is not letting Ruto's team slide on the music copyright lies. Calling out the PR spin, the eCitizen "fixes" with zero proof of payments, and the push to use Butita & Hampty Dampty as mouthpieces. Artists' royalties aren't state property. Facts over feelings. Public forum or nothing.
