These are not Albanian students. These are agitators using the students to advance their carefully calculated campaign of chaos.

Meanwhile, the police brutality against peaceful students is heartbreaking to watch.

We all want @ediramaal to step down, and he would have been replaced through the general elections in 2025 had lobbyists from the US not interfered and changed the course of events just so they could make a few million dollars through crooks like Berisha.

Rama stepping down now means the agitators, and potentially the Berisha and Meta clan, could take over and set Albania back 35 years.

This entire mess could be resolved in minutes if @realDonaldTrump dedicated just five minutes to it. President Trump could literally end this nightmare by making a few phone calls and posting a truth on his social media, speaking directly to the Albanian people.

First, @USEmbassyTirana needs to make it clear to @SPAK_Albania that they are free to act as they see fit in Berisha's case.

Berisha and his son-in-law were placed under house arrest for a reason, and they are under US sanctions for a strong reason: deep corruption. Berisha needs to be arrested again and immediately, just as former Albanian President Ilir Meta, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, and many others are currently in jail while facing serious corruption charges.

Furthermore, Berisha is the opposition's illegitimate leader. Under his own party's statute, Berisha was the one person who, under no circumstances, should have been allowed to run again for chairman this past May. He should have resigned after losing the last election.

Sali Berisha lost the 2025 election by 35 points, even though Chris LaCivita, his 'campaign manager,' kept showing up during the campaign and invoking Susie Wiles' name.

That's how much Sali Berisha is hated. Many Democrats, who are supposed to be right-wing and support President Trump, voted for Edi Rama because they considered him the lesser of two evils.

Instead, Berisha purged everyone who tried to replace him by entering the race and claimed the chairmanship without a contest, against all rules and constitutional laws.

Once Berisha is gone, the US should oversee the establishment of a temporary government, with @ediramaal stepping down and Albania holding new general elections within the next six to nine months.

All the agitators who are setting the country on fire must face the full force of the law. The same applies to those who ordered the police to beat citizens who were not involved in destroying institutions or burning businesses.

Most importantly, I hope @realDonaldTrump will pay attention, even if only for a few minutes. He literally can make a huge difference.

And Susie INC had better keep its distance right now, because if any of you are working to install Sali Berisha in power, the violence in Albania could escalate into something far uglier, and sooner or later, you will be held accountable for your actions.

Harry, do you support Berisha returning to power? In 2021 the Biden administration designated him persona non grata for significant corruption — misusing public funds and interfering in processes to benefit himself, his allies, and his family.
The protests turned violent on both sides: protesters set fires, attacked buildings, and threw rocks; police used tear gas, water cannon, and rubber bullets, and some officers were later suspended. Judging by facts, not politics.
Whenever Albania gets close to real EU progress, the same old political tensions flare up. US officials and the ambassador should be clear-eyed about Berisha’s record and whether he advances stability or just recycles the same cycle. Albania needs accountability and a break from the old class, not more of the same.
