May 2026 at the summit of El Tucuche (second-highest mountain in Trinidad and Tobago) was the driest month so far this year. 33.0 mm of rainfall was recorded. Temperatures averaged 21.0 °C. Detailed data can be seen in the figures below.

A secondary highpoint weather station was installed at the trailhead for White Butte, North Dakota. Weather conditions at the trailhead can now be compared with conditions at the summit, which is 350 ft higher.

The high wind event at White Butte, North Dakota is winding down, with wind speeds having fallen below 20 mph. The peak sustained wind of 51 mph and peak gust of 67 mph occurred around 2:50 PM and 12:45 PM MDT, respectively.

@NWSGoodland These values appear to be an overestimate. 1.35" was observed at Mount Sunflower, which is in the 2"-3" range and close to the 3"-4" range on your map.

Hawkeye Point, Iowa recorded its first 90 °F temperature of the season today, with a high today of exactly 90.0 °F. Well above-normal temperatures are expected to last until the middle of the week.

Mount Sunflower, Kansas recorded a max wind gust of 57 mph and a max 2-minute sustained wind of 41 mph as a result of today's thunderstorms. These are new records for the Highpoint Weather Network. 0.03" of rain fell at the station.

As a result of the cold wave affecting the island of Puerto Rico, yesterday's high of 60.9 °F on Cerro de Punta was the lowest since the station was installed on February 23rd. However, the diurnal range was small, the temperature falling only to 56 °F overnight.

Great news! We have obtained permission to install a station at White Butte, the highest point in the state of North Dakota. The installation date is currently planned for this August. Currently, the highest station in ND is the Bowman Municipal Airport at 2,965 ft.
