Challenge: grade this 1937 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Head and left hand should have 70% details. Separation of thumb and finger, branches of the oak and laurel should be separated . The left leg of the eagle should have most bearing of the feathers.
This pattern shilling of Edward VI dates to 1547. It’s a piedfort (struck on a thicker blank than usual) that was made for presentation purposes. This coin weighs 30.49 grams, almost 8 times heavier than the circulating shilling that was introduced in 1549. From the Hunterian.

Early 1873 coins featured a “Closed 3” that looked more like an “8,” later prompting the Mint to update the design. This 1873 Liberty Seated Half Dollar shows that closed 3. It’s a common variety—but these colors? Anything but. As the only example in PCGS F12, it’s a beauty.
There is a difference between artificially toned and artfully toned.
Artificially toned coins are often passed off as “legitimate” toners which is frustrating.
While this 2014 technically is an artificial toner, I think of it as Artfully Toned. There is no deception here, only beauty.
