A statement from President @TPACampbell:
It is with heartbreaking sadness today that we confirm the line-of-duty death of @TorontoPolice Constable Marc Pinizzotto.
A valued member of our elite Emergency Task Force, our brave brother was fatally shot early this morning during a high-risk takedown.
The TPA has been on site all morning with Chief Demkiw and other members of the TPS, supporting Marc’s devastated family and colleagues.
Details of how this tragic incident unfolded, as well as any arrangements, will be available in the coming days.
In the meantime, I want to ask everyone for their support. When most people were safely at home in bed, this officer left his family to make this city safer.
Our members put their lives on the line every day. It is a devastating tragedy that Marc did not return home to his family today.
On June 7th, 1948 OPP Provincial Constable George Yuile, Badge 516, was involved in a motor vehicle crash while on duty serving at the Brampton Detachment. On June 11th, 1948 George died as a result of his injuries. His service and sacrifice is always remembered. #HeroesInLife
