Here's some good news for a change. One of America's most intractable problems is intergenerational poverty. Now a major new study from @harvard and @OppInsights shows one path to break these cycles of poverty: harness kids to influence kids. https://t.co/b87zL4AeT1
Today, @OppInsights released new research about how low-opportunity neighborhoods can be transformed to offer improved mobility for low-income children using insights from the $17 billion HOPE VI program.
➡️ Main Finding:
Children who grew up in revitalized public housing earn ~50% more as adults, largely due to more mixed-income social interactions. Place-based investments that connect low-opportunity areas to surrounding neighborhoods can substantially boost economic mobility.
Applications for our summer 2026 predoctoral research fellowship are due February 4th. Join our webinar to find out more about this opportunity!
