I didn’t know Deba personally but I planned to get to know her. I loved her so much from afar and she motivated me immensely. I always used to speak about her to my husband about how she motivated me from her posts.

For her to be gone hurts me so bad because I know she was a genuinely kind person.

The one and only encounter we had was so funny. It was at a fair. I was given a very tiny space beside her stand and that of gourmet twist. So I requested that her staff should move a little bit for me to have some space to exhibit and sell my own goods. They were a bit reluctant. Immediately Deba came, I went to her and omg!!! She was so pleasant. She immediately instructed her staff to create space for me and she kept asking if I was okay. She patronized me several times that day and brought her friends to patronize me as well. I had said if I wanted to go fully into this business and quit my day job, I was going to schedule a meeting with her and ask her to pour into me her business sense and drive and to also introduce me to her friends too for collaborations. I’m so so sad I never initiated that contact earlier because after that one meeting, she actually asked me to keep in touch. I really wish I did and didn’t think to wait for a ‘perfect time’.
