Official findings from the U.S. Department of Justice under President Biden regarding the investigation into the New York Executive Chamber under former Governor Andrew Cuomo:

“Indeed, the Executive Chamber’s response was designed only to protect Cuomo from further accusations, rather than to protect employees from sexual harassment.” — ¶5, p. 1.

“The Executive Chamber was aware of Cuomo’s conduct but failed to effectively remediate the harassment on a systemic level.” — ¶5, p. 1.

“Cuomo’s senior staff were aware of his conduct and retaliated against four of the women he harassed.” — ¶6, p. 1.

DOJ formally determined that the Executive Chamber engaged in “a pattern or practice of discrimination against female employees based on sex” and “a pattern or practice of retaliation” against employees who complained. — ¶7, pp. 1–2.

DOJ found a systemic Executive Chamber failure: staff did not follow EEO procedures when employees raised concerns and did not promptly report allegations to the appropriate investigative body.

And the DOJ press release contains another useful formulation from Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke:

“The conduct in the Executive Chamber under the former governor … was especially egregious because of the stark power differential involved and the victims’ lack of avenues to report and redress harassment.”

Squirrels plant trees because they forget where they put their snacks. Relatable.

A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG THAT IT CREATES ITSELF AND DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC GOO AND REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND THEN LEAVES. WHY IS THIS NOT MORE BEAUTIFULLY TERRIFYING TO PEOPLE??
