The secret to a successful compost bin is adding materials in layers. Garden soil, grass clippings, and dried leaves/weeds will give you a good start. We added about 2000 @WormsWay red wiggler worms to this pile.
Conducted a soil test before planting 30 (5 varieties) tomato plants. Results: High alkaline, medium potash, and very low levels of phosphorus and nitrogen. Outcomes: Added sphagnum peat to take acid level to 4.0-4.5.
